The Nexus
Right here on Steam for one. Click on the workshop and subscribe to anything you like the looks of. Also Nexusmods is considered teh holy grail.

And yes it is free. Just keep reading until you hit the "Continue" button or something like that.

Workshop is buggy right now- I wouldn't recommend it, and anyhow, when I did use Workshop + Nexus, organisation became difficult.

Just do Nexus because everything's there and once you get NMM set up, one-click downloads are as easy as Workshop and deactivating mods is so much easier.
ok so i went on workshop and i subsribed to the mods i wanted. are they just auto downloaded?
It says mod 1 at my loading screen for skyrim so im just gonna assume that its working haha. Thanks :)

if you're really serious about modding skyrim, you should definitely check out "STEP" - the "Skyrim total enhancement project". In my experience, that's the best balance between comprehensible and totally gosh darn awesome mods. you get a list of mods, you download them (via Nexus ofc.) and for the most part just add them. I recomend that only tho, if you already have some experience in modding, since you will work with a custom modloader called Wrye Smash, which isn't quite that intuitive - also for every hour played, you have in between five to fifteen minutes of fixing your loadorder, weeding out incompatibilities and so forth. only install it, if you have a weekend to dedicate to it. when it works tho, its TOTALLY awesome. the closes you can get to TES VI imho
hope that helps

I would recommend using nexus it's the easiest and you can get some really good mods also you will need SKSE I would recommend looking up how to install it however its farely easy to install also using the steam workshop is very easy after subscribing when using the launcher you will see mods updating/mods up to date at the bottom and the mod should be working however you will not be able to get mods that enhnace graphics as well as script mods such as Ineed without SKSE(if you really want to mod look into SKSE if your worried about viruses and such I have used it for about a year now and have not had problems)Have fun!

I have never noticed this before what mods are they is there any mods that include items
if so start the game and see if you can find the items if you can I would say dont worry about it as they seem to be working
something I have noticed about steam workshop is sometimes it does not update and you will not see your subscribed items evn tho there working
