Arcane Blacksmith Perk Gltich
Ok, so I wanted to make my character as powerful as he was on my 360 save because I really just didn't feel like starting completely over again. Unfortunately now I have the glitch where if you level up smithing past legendary the arcane blacksmith perk doesn't work even if you have it. My question is, is there any form of solution to this problem? I've tried removing the perk and adding it again, but that doesn't work. Some people suggested a mod that lets you upgrade things past flawless, but that also doesn't solve the problem. I'd even settle on some kind of item editor so I can just make upgrade enchanted armor from there if anyone knows of a good one.

Incase anyone reading is confused, this is what I did:
I used the console command "advskill" to advance my skills, which gives you xp instead of just increasing it by so many levels, so it's like you smithed a lot of items within a split second instead of just skipping to the next level. Then I made them legendary and did it again. From what I've read, a few perks have a glitch where once you make a skill legendary, the game refuses to recognize them, regardless of how you leveled up. What I'd like is some kind of mod that allows me to edit the items in my inventory so I can just make my enchanted armor flawless from there. If anyone can point me in the direction of a good one, that would be very much appreciated.

player.remove perk 0005218e

idk, add it, remove it, add it twice, remove it a couple times, add it again.

nobody has stated they tried it and it didn't work so maybe playing with it you might get lucky

Well that's what I've been doing, and actually I found a few people who've said that didn't work.

truth be told I didn't look that hard. other than loading a save before making it legendary is probably your only recourse. i am sure that is a sucky idea though.

Once you have gone to legendary in Smithing your skill in that area drops back down to its starting level of 15 or 20, depending on your race. You have to level up again until you get back to the Arcane perk which requires smithing level of 60.

The best way to do this would be by going to a trainer where you can gain 5 smithing levels per game level, plus using whatever ingots you have lying around to make items and increase your smithing levels further.

Only problem is, if you use the legendary perk when you are at high game level it will take you much longer and more smithing to get back to where you were.

my smithing is level 100 and i have the perk, the game just doesn't register that I have it.

No, because you have been using cheats. You had a skill at 100 before reaching lvl 5, then In the same minute you reached lvl 5, 10, and 50?

While using cheats do not stop you from getting achievements, they can bork your game. There are certain 'triggers' that they bypass which are needed for the game to function properly.

Well like I said, I already got to a fairly high level on 360 and honestly didn't wanna go through all of that again. From what I've heard, this glitch even happens on consoles when you pass into legendary and re-obtain the perk. I really don't need any judgement, I just want to know if there's a console command or an item modifier that will let me upgrade my enchanted armor. If you don't know of any, you're not really helping out. (Incase it seems like I'm giving attitude, I'm not, before some kind of arguement breaks out.)

I was not being judgemental just making you aware of the problems with console commands. There is one that supposedly will give you the Arcane perk but may not work as you already have it (though not working). There are no guarantees.

player.addperk 5218e : adds the Arcane Blacksmith perk You may also need to exit Steam to reset your registry.

@roscaria
it actually is a documented bug on the uesp blacksmithing page.

no fix is listed

@ Roscaria, yeah I mentioned I've used this method several times. I'm pretty sure the console won't help, so now all I'm looking for is some kind of item modifier. I know Fallout 3 and New Vegas had this, so I assume Skyrim has something similar too even if it is a slightly different engine and different game series.
