Is the Dragonborn a Nord To You?
Some people say that Morrowind was MADE to be played as a Dunmer, and that carries on over to Skyrim. Some like to think that the Dragonborn can be a Nord and only a Nord and that it's "confirmed" in the lore and whatnot. I disagree with that, and say that every player's own tale is canon. In my mind, the one and only Dragonborn hails from Black Marsh. What are your thoughts? Does the Dragonborn have to carry the blood of a Nord? Or could a beast be the hero? Or an elf?

Yes. Canon wise, the dragonborn is nordic.

I get the impression that the Dragonborn was supposed to be a Nord. But I always liked the hero (heroine) to be someone not expected. My current character was a Warlocks thrall that became a warrior. A wood Elf, which seems an unlikely candidate for the Dragonborn. Perhaps a Khajiit would be a bit less likely.

Cool roleplay.

I think that would be nice if they had definitve canon, but I don't see that in these games, unfortunately. Long live KOTOR.

I don't think the Dragonborn has any canonical race or gender. And I don't imagine TESVI will give him/her one, since most of the protagonists from the other games have remained ambiguous. Like the Nerevarine or the Champion, he'll go down in Tamrielic history as a mysterious figure, with little known about him except the effects he had on the world.

The only question is how the civil war ended then. ????

Maybe they'll make make it so the war weakened both sides, which gave the Aldmeri Domain the chance to take over?

Aldmeri Dominion keels over dead. All the Aedra AND Daedra slaughter Aldmeris the world over. High Elf race goes extinct.

As you are Dragonborn, it is very likely you are a relative of the old Empire's Emperior. Possibly another Wedlocked Child. So ask yourself the Question, If you where the EMperior, who'd you wantn to ♥♥♥♥? This will instantly ex out Khajit and Argonians as it's unconfirmed if Humans or Mer can breed will beastfolk, Possibly Dunmer and Orcs, and Leaving Bosmer, Altmer, Bretons, Imperials, Nords, and Redguards if the Emperior didn't have some form of Kink. Disgusting to Talk about but a point to bring up.

Wouldn't make Sense, You could say Skyrim fought another Civil War After Ulfric's. But if the legion is out of Skyrim, it's out of Skyrim, More Troops in Cydrodyll wouldn't be too bad at the loss of hundreds of Soldiers in SKyrim.

CC defaults to a nord, so it must be a nord.

No but really, it's a high elf. Why else would you be escaping the Hammerfell area?

Personally, I play a female Nord Thief named Brynja.

Your typical type of Thief; Won't kill unless absolutely necessary, and tries to do the right thing, though will steal mainly anything that's valuable and not bolted down. I too like the idea of a hero from unexpected origins. Head canon, my Dragonborn is an orphan who had been mostly poor her entire life. I like this origin story because the heroism aspect wouldn't come easily, but certainly their heart would be in it to a degree. As they become richer throughout their adventures, they would slowly steal less and less... mainly for the thrill of it.

I guess certain games I like to play certain characters. Mass Effect I'm always Paragon Male, Fallout Good Male, Skyrim Good Female. Never really tried Evil; just can't get into it.

Once I played Farm Simultaor and Roleplayed I was Cabbage Born, Eater and Grower of Cabbage Souls, Leaving the Actual Cabbage to rot. Seriosuly Dude, It's not what Characters you have made over the years, it's who the Dragonborn is to you.

Well, acc the Dragonborn is simply a mortal blessed by Akatosh, which means that any race can become a Dragonborn. However, it is passed through bloodlines, hence the Septim Dynasty. I like this, as it means I can canonically play as a Khajit :)
Well I messed up the quote. Second paragraph's mine :P

It doesn't matter what race you are. The fact is that you're dragonborn and your primary destiny is to stop Aludin. What happens after that could be the basis for ES6.
