Skyrim:Ralof will not follow me once I leave the cave or the other guy the imperial guy
So a while back after I beat Skyrim on the Xbox I didnt find any thril in going through the main skyrim quests so I downloaded an Alternate start mod.It was fun for a while but eventually I got bord of it and just unsubscribed to it and deleted it...this messed up leaving the cave right before where u are told to hide from Alduin...Ralof or the other guy just stands there and doesnt move right outside the cave. Ive tried reinstalling the mod and then uninstalling it but still my game is broken. Pretty much long story short the mod broke Ralof or the Imperial guy going to the rock and hiding from Alduin and they just stand der...pretty much I cant become dragonborn. Is there any way to fix this if so can I please get some help how to fix this...Tks

You should still be able to become dragonborn if you go talk to the Jarl in Whiterun; I don't think Ralof and/or Hadvar are essential to you becoming dragonborn because if you wanted to you don't even have to follow them to Riverwood, you can go exploring in other holds even before going to Whiterun and you should still be able to be Dragonborn. however, if it still doesn't work, you may need to try running a clean save (start all the way over from the very beginning.)

I hope it works for you.

I had the same problem when I used a mod that let me skip the intro and started the game at the end of the Cave. The imperial worked fine and Alduin shows up, but Ralof just hides and Alduin never appears.
What worked for me is just to talk to Ralof, this will start the next quest, but he will still hide. Next, attack him a few times until he becomes hostile. When he does, and runs at you, just put away your weapons and he becomes neutral.

That is why you shouldn't bother with workshop mods, and just use the nexus. You don't need ralof or whatever his name is to complete or start the main quest, just go to riverwood and talk with the blacksmith about helgen being destroyed, he should then tell you to head to whiterun to get guards in case riverwood gets attacked.

Don't use workshop, it's like 50% buggier then the nexus and the nexus is a lot more stable.

This is a later comment now several weeks from the original post. That is also further info. This mod removed the commentary between you and the Jarl so he just goes says noramal things and won't even talk to me like a guard but not guard text. Also the other guy you can chose to follow also won't move.

Don't remove mods and then try to carry on playing the same save, you have to either start a whole new game or reload to a save before the mod was active (not possible with alt start mods, of course). ESPECIALLY don't remove alternate start mods, they can and WILL mess up your game, completely breaking the main quest eventually, and probably introducing who knows what other problems.

If you had left the mod in your game, you should be able to talk to Balgruuf (I presume that's the Jarl you mean) normally and progress the main quest, the mod didn't do that, removing the mod did. (That mod is a little clunky at times but it doesn't prevent you talking to Balgruuf.)

I use the Nexus Mod Manager and still encountered this problem, so the posts above talking about steam being the cause, are not correct.
