Skyrim Legendary Edition download ceases to progress beyond 2 GB

Since the day (during 2014 summer sale) I bought the legendary edition and have tried downloading it, the download stalls dead at 2 GB, evry time.

Here's what I have done so far in order to get the things working:
1. I have disabled my antivirus
2. I have exit Steam completely > deleted appcache and config folder > restarted my pc
3. I have uninstalled my antivirus and switched off my Windows Firewall
4. I uninstalled and reinstalled steam
5. I have fiddled with the "ClientRegistry.blob" file (as instructed in the steam support page)
6. I have changed download server location to eleven different locations nearer to my country

Nothing actually helped.

At one point it went beyond 3 GB and stalled at 3.1 gb, but that's the limit.

I have raised a support ticket at both Steam and Bethesda, but am yet to receive any response from them.

In case it matters, I am using Win 7 Ultimate (x64), Avast antivirus and Windows Firewall.

Any help or pointers will save the life of this poor soul.

You just have not been patient. If the servers are too busy try at off hours for your region. Remember if you stop at X.X Gb it will resume and continue from there WHEN the servers can accomodate you. This information has been posted about 40,000 times. See "Skyrim Sale FAQ". Or, you could read the zillion exact same posts littering this site since the Summer Sale started. Sheesh.

I understand that I am being impatient here. But how come other games are downloading in quite the right way as they should, while Skyrim has troubles to behave normally?

Yup - patience. As I recall, it took best part of the day (some 11 hours) to complete for me. TBH I don't think Steam divided by the number of it's users equals a very good bandwidth for much other than a regular ping - even sync (when you have to) seems like the days of yore and dial up speeds at best. Hang in there and, seriously, good luck to you. :P

Does it happen ONLY with Skyrim LE?
I am asking this because a friend of mine (my neighbourhood) bought Skyrim regular edition for his kid on the same date. We started downloaded together (more-or-less), his downloaded completed within 90 minutes while I am still waiting...

Sogaban, it happens almost every time there's an excellent deal to be had. Some people are just lucky and I guess - like me - you ain't one of them. Be patient lol :D

So, that's it! It simply boils down to sheer luck. I don't know whether I should take this with a grain of salt or not.

It happened to me too, but I kept exiting Steam and coming back, until I got a nice download speed and Im playing it now. Just keep trying, the servers overloaded, it was a good deal!

If you have a router (configured properly) turning off your firewall or anti-virus for a specific site is not dangerous. PLEASE, do not open an e-mail, or surf or click on a link while they are disabled. After d/l, before initianting an install you can do a deep scan if you are worried. I do.
Of course, I normally have Java and Flash disabled (along with redirects) and only enable them for specific reasons. They are much more dangerous.
Unfortunately most users log on their systems as Admin, and when they get hacked the hacker inherits their permissions. You only run as Admin when required and then log back in with a permission limited profile.
