Pure Mage Build... High Elf or Breton?

Very new to Skyrim, just started a few days ago. After getting more used to the controls, pretty sure I want to be a mage, I'm a breton now but should I start over as a high elf? Also, should I invest all my level ups in Magicka??

Breton is by far the best to choose for any class really just for the exrta 25% magic resist which is amazing. High elf is also a great choice for the extra 50 magicka which helps out alot for casting spells early on. I wouldnt put everything into magicka i would distribute your points evenly between health and magicka. I found stamina useless for mage characters but if you want the extra carrying weight then put a few points into stamina.

Ok, so this thing im reading about where the High Elf get +50 Magicka, in the end, will their magica be 50 above the max cap? While if I stick with breton their magica will be just the max? Or is it just +50 in the beginning, and I can catch up with that by playing another class?? Thanks, btw.

Once you get to level 10 the racial bonuses don't really matter anymore. Pick for aesthetics.

no max cap just put points everytime you level into stats. bretons are better because it is easier to get max magicka defence

The 50 extra magicka is permanent. There is no magicka cap you could put all 81 level ups into magicka if you really wanted to lol.

if you want looks then get the Race Menu mod. elf ears on bretons , green hair , purple skin. etc...
