If you want though, just find some scumbag.... I'm sure people have some suggestions ... to lead to the slaughter.
But yeah - unless you`re playing with mods that affect the vanilla health or stamina regen rate to something more taxing - the reward is not that impressive.
That being said - if you`re comfortable being a werewolf that goes on rampages I honestly dont see how it is any worse!
I am certainly glad I did the quest once, because as you say, it's pretty entertaining when you find out certain... little secrets around Markarth.
My character who did it, did it pretty early on, and was mainly adventuring around the Reach, so it did come in quite handy when coming up against Forsworn (I'm not sure if they're really any tougher than regular bandits, but they always seem it to me).
And, yeah, that's a fair point, really - I have never actually played as a werewolf, though (I've *been* one but I've never really gone on a wolfy rampage). Been a vampire, mind you, and that was jolly good fun, with mods.
MageThis and JZM, I should've done what you did, I really do loathe cannibals! :)
Also - agreeing to do the bidding of any Daedra is not neccessarily a good thing ;-)
I highly recommend turning into a werewolf during a civil war battle though - much chaos ensues!
The only thing with wanting to e the 'white knight' in a game, is that by not being a vampire or werewolf, means that you can not finish the Companions' quest-line, nor be a true companion. And as for the vampire one, not being it or werewolf, means that your Dawnguard DLC (if you have it), is wasted since there is nothing to gain with it unless you allow yourself to be a wolf or vamp. But eh, we all have our own thing.
Depends if you play the game in a number-crunching Build Best Character sort of way or not, really. I actually enjoyed the Dawnguard DLC content more as a vampire, but it's still fun on the Dawnguard side, there's new spells and crossbows and stuff, too.
The Lycanthropy can be cured and if I play a White Knight type, I see justification in making the ultimate sacrifice and becomming a werewolf to then turn around and save my peers and myself from the Daedric Lord Hircine and finishing the Companions questline in the process. Then, the only thing you do not do is Help Aela with the Totems or Hircine, as that is in favor of Hircine. The way I see it, without you, the Circle consists of 5 servants of Hircine, though 3 are reluctant. If you finish the Companions and do the Purity quest 3 times, the final version of the Circle consists of 3 redeemed humans and only one servant of Hircine, and you give a former servant a cleansed afterlife. In those playthroughs, I just don't use Beastform at all and treat the thing as a horrible curse (pray to shrines for strength, nerf the build, etc). In these types of builds, I also end up telling Serana to cure herself.
Dawnguard isn't wasted if you choose the Dawnguard side of the dlc, hello Advanced Dwarven Crossbows, anyone? Killing vamps, anyone? I also, in a little twist, will turn and use the Mace of Molag Bal against vampires. Use the creation of their master against them is something interesting. Dawnbreaker is good for that too. So, the build, while White knightish, sort of turns evil against itself. The idea of the redemption of an inherently evil artifact by using it to do good, is very appealing and a nice slap in the face to the Daedra if you choose to play that way.
On such builds though, at least the Namira quest gives you an option. Wish Boethiah's did, but I simply choose not to read the book, and then only a misc quest objective is left in my quest log. The other Daedric quests, can I think be avoided pretty well and others give options to stick it to the Daedra. A White Knight would TOTALLY do Waking Nightmare because you're helping a Priest of Mara.
