Saering"s Watch

I killed the dragon and already got the word before Esbern sent me there with the blades. The problem is that it still registers as an unfinished quest "Kill the Dragon at Saering's Watch" ok now what? any ideas? I have an arrow pointing out to sea that says I need to go that way to do the quest but that is out in the ocean south of solstein island...?

Dragons will respawn, when area resets. That usually takes about 10 ingame days. Dragonborn can't enter the cell during this time, or reset time starts again. Dragon missions for Blades can be completed with respawned dragons as well.

I am unsure how to asnwer to the second part of your question, because you didn't tell us where you are. If you are in the main map, then that arrow is actually pointing to Solstheim. If you are in Solstheim map, then there is either a glitch or another mission active.

Yes I am in Solstheim and the arrow is not the 'fast travel' back to Skyrim but a location arrow. So I go back to Esbern to see if since I already killed that dragon and got the word during game play earlier if that woul reset it but alas no. the blades are still waiting for me at the Watch and there is no Dragon to go kill. I will see if waiting for several game days works to respawn/reset the area. Thanks for your input... hey maybe the arrow is showing where the dragon is right now but keeps moving like when I try to catch up to a moving person on the main map....

Also, try sleeping which has been know to reset some triggers or scripts. Also, as many have stated or tried... for some reason getting a bounty and serving time resets some values. Time away from a damaged/borked cell seems to heal them through regen/respawn... sometimes.
