Serana's past/backstory?

After playing through the entire game including the DLC, I have been trying to find out what the backstory is behind Serana. After freeing her from her imprisonment I have tried to have dialog with her to find out about her past. She redily admits when you first meet her that she a vampire. She even hints at the fact that she must have been imprisoned for far longer than she even thought. Yet I still try to pry into her past but nothing else is ever added to the dialog. After being freed and her father delt with she decided to become human again (her choice) and ever since she is one of my followers. Now, I am still curious about the backstory behind Serana.

If anyone knows please let me know. (Is she thousands of years old? or hundreds of years?)

well she comes from the first era, becuase she says there is no empire when she was not inprisonment by her farther and yes you can change her back into a human, only if your human.

at certain times during the questline she will open upto you. thats when you must talk to her. At some point during the search for her mothers lab she will start talking . hit her up then for some info

Serana is thousands of years old. On a slightly related note, Harkon's "plan" is yet another case of terrible Bethesda writing.

well serana was actually raped by Molag Bal and Coldharbour is the realm of Molag bal

Thanks everyone for the replies. When Serana was with me during the quests seeking and doing tasks for Serana's mother I did explore the dialog options but still felt some of the significant details were left out.

Well, like I said in another thread, this isn't Fallout so there isn't going to be a whole lot of exposition regarding the sacrificial sexual act thing. You'll have to use your imagination.
