Is there any good damage-dealing enchantments for Bows/Crossbows?
For reference, I'm Level 33, playing on Adapt difficulty.
So I'm rather confused. I have the Champion's Cudgel from doing the Dragonborn DLC Questline, and recently disenchanted it to get my hands on the Chaos Damage enchantment. Yet it seems quite... pathetic when used on a bow. I thought it would be OP. I mean, seriously, able to do Fire, Frost, and Shock all at the same time for 17 damage, 50% chance to do so?

17 damage compared to 8 damage when you put fire damage on a bow(without the perk), do the math, it has to be more powerful. Yet it takes 3-4 Ebony arrows to bring a humanoid target down (not a Giant) when I do sneak attacks.
The bow in question that has the enchantment, is a Glass bow. I can't work with glass yet. Found it from a body. The base damage (with skills/perks) is 45 damage, and is Superior quality. I'm wondering if this(the fact I don't have the Glass Smithing perk), could be contributing.

So I ask(as I do in the title), is there any good damage-dealing enchantments for bows? Also, another question. Can crossbows be enchanted? I haven't done the Dawnguard DLC questline yet, so that's why I ask.

Yes, crossbows can be enchanted they also outscale bows in damage i believe but have a very slow fire rate. For bow enchants there isnt really a best i guess if you want damage you can enchant them with fire/frost/shock damage

you can never go wrong with fire. apply a little poison to damage or paralyze. I always found the best thing for a bow is to temper the heck out of the best bow you can get and add the best quality arrows you can get. I always found that enchantements ran out and if you dont have soulgems to recharge it becomes useless. so i never did.
alot of my archery builds also had me using a bound bow. it leveled conjuring and archery plus with the one perk it doiubles damage. sweet. you cant enchant but you can apply poison.
but back on topic f, more creatures have a weakness to fire than any other shock or frost.
and yes once you have the glass smithing perk you will double the tempering so level youtr smithing to get it.
crossbows are a yes and deliver a more powerful hit but take longer to reload. its a matter of choice

Alright, thank you. So Fire is the way to go, it seems. Looks like I was doing it right when I had my older, not as powerful bow.

But I really want to talk about the "failure" in Chaos Damage. Why does it seem like it's so bad with bows? I mean, is Chaos Damage good for anything? A weapon perhaps?
It seems like, there's more resisting with Chaos Damage, than a normal damage dealing enchant.

plus it should be mentioned that any Magicka draining effect against dragons is preferred. Shock being the enchantment to limnit its dragon breath/spell/shout attacks

well its a lttle stronger on stalhrim weapons 25% but 1 outof 8 chance to have all 3 enchantments go off, 3 outof8 for 2, 3outof8 for 3 and 1 out of 8 for 0 to go off.
ythe chances get worse if the enemy has an immunity.once you break down the numbers it becomes to erratic for me. i prefer to know how many hits its going to take.
when an element does trigger it will benefit from the destruction shock/fire/frost though which i just learned btw, so level desstruction and place perks on the element damge if you do want this
but like i said to erattic for me.

Bow. I have one sword to :)
But for doing that you need enchanted ring neckes enchanted gloves etc. And 100 in all needed skills.
If you check the img you can se the stats on the sword, arrows etc. And i play legendary and use one mod that makes it even harder.

so do you see what hes talking about the chaos being weak on bows than on melee weapons?

The bow is the key, yes you can charge in whit one sword of some kind but you will not come close.
As fast as you can you should put Fire enchanting one the bow. But temper it first.

Well, I finally have Arcane Smithing, so I don't have to improve then enchant. Or is it better to improve first to get the most damage?
