Best order to play Dwemer ruins in?
I am getting into my first full PC playthrough (previously had the game on xbox) and want to really thoroughly explore all Dwemer content this time around. I feel like I missed a lot of lore/loot/quest material when I first played because I didn't really realize the extent of the Dwemer network. Once I got into the Blackreach I really wished I had done things less chaotically.

So, I'm looking for a good guide on how/when to progress through all the ruins. I know the main questline sends you to Alftand and From-Deepest-Fathoms in Riften sends you to Avanchnzel, but what other questlines are there that send you to Dwemer ruins? What order did you play the ruins in or do you think is best?

There are also some surface ruins like the convectors and that ballista (?) in the southeast I would love to know more about. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I love the dwemer stuff myself, and there is no real order to do them in. I suggest you just enjoy each one as you find it. If you have dawnguard dlc there is another book that sends you to several dwemer ruins. It's called The Aetherium Wars. Great book, awesome quest, awesome rewards.

Me too love the Dwemer more then i like doing the falmer caves.

You may want to bring a followere to carry any lotting`s you may pick up on the way through
Hmmmm, I'm not gonna count the teeny ones.

Lost to the Ages, takes you to Arkngthamz, Raldbthar, and the Aetherium forge
Avanchnzel is a good one too

Bthardamz - Daedric quest
Irkngthand - part of the thieves guild, can't access it unless you do TG questline
Kagrenzel - a very curious one, one of my favorites
Mzinchaleft - quest for Mjoll the Lioness
Mzulft - part of the College of Winterhold questline, otherwise can't access it.
Nchuand-Zel - neat one underneath Markarth, usually the first I do
Raldbthar - Attached to the DB, but not really
Sightless Pit - This one had more falmer
Dragonborn DLC has the BEST Dwemer ruin's in the game, great puzzles to solve, awesome loot too.

Yeah, it does, I was just limiting myself to Vanilla ruins. That puzzle in the Dragonborn ruin is awesome. Can't wait to play that again.
I dunno if you would count this but in Markarth there is a Dwemer Ruin: Nchuand-Zel. There is a quest to go with it: The Lost Expedition. Its located by Calcelmo. You get acess from a small quest for him, just killing a spider. Behind the spider is a corpse, loot it to start the quest.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that one!

Good to know, I thought I had completed all the Dragonborn content but I definitely didn't do any major Dwemer ruins. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Appreciate it.

Around the docks in Riften is a Kajit that will give you a lexicon to return to in a dwemer ruin. That is a good one to start with a new character at a lower level.

It's an Argonian, From-Deepest-Fathoms, is her name and she doesn't unlock until you are level 14.
