Companions initiation glitch; Need some assistance
I had just completed the "proving Honor" quest, had fast travelled back to Jorrvaskr and was notified of quest completeion, however instead of having varkas(or whatever his name is) come up to me and tellin me to follow him i get nothing, no option to follow, nothing. I did however get the option to ask everyone about werewolves and such, and people will randomly comment if nearby about how im still not initiated and im a whelp bla bla bla. I read in the wiki about a similar glitch but all involved being given the follow dialogue option then glitching out during initiation, i havent even been told to follow anyone. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a console command that will either skip past initiation or allow me to activate the dialogue?
EDIT: I have also tried disabling mods to no avail.

wow usually when this happens i usually say to use console commands to setstage and finish quests but because of how this quest and initiation scene is scripted i recommend not doing so
setstage c03 5 this will start the next quest.
the safest method is to move all involved to you.
prid <ref id> then <moveto player>
ref ids are 1a693 , 1a691 , 1a697 , 1a68f , 1a695
prid and move to you in this order should start the initiation. save before either method so when it screws up im not on your to kill list

Had that once my conclusion is you can FAIL proving honor if you hit farkas to much ... load a save before you enter Dustmans cairn and lookout not to hit Farkas that much.

this could be the safest method but i dont think hitting him will fail the quest. once i did this at a high level. i had 0spell cost(because of cheating, dont tell anyone) i kept throwing area spells at him and the enemies and it proceeded just fine

Could also be that spells don't count only hits with physical weapons.

as annoying as he is i think you cant avoid hitting him, its an impulse. a basic need like breathing. besides on occasion i have adventured with him for a long time without doing the quest and sometimes i had to whack him to move out from adoorway or balcony ledge.
i think he is just glitched to the max and deserves to be hit

yea pretty much tried everything, even the setstages and moving players to me, finally said F it and auto completed the companion quests ( done em before so no biggie) was gonna revert the saves but my last save was sadly about 2 hours before that (not sure why lol) even with the quest showing as complete the return to Jorrvaskr was still showing as being incomplete. heck even after auto completing all three quests the companions still say im a whelp needing initiation even though random npc and gaurds will ocasionally comment on me being the harbinger. pretty much just glitched out to the max but whatever ill get it on my next playthrough, thanks guys.

have you actually talked to the companions! At no stage do Companions Ever cone up to you to start the next phase of a quest! You need to instigate it!

extract from UESP
When returning to Whiterun and taking place in the ceremony inducting you into the Companions, the other participants in the ceremony may stop talking, causing the quest to not complete.

Talk to Vilkas upon your return to Jorrvaskr and have him lead you to the induction ceremony. The stop dialog issue seems to happen when you start the ceremony without him.
Using the wait command for one hour after the dialog stops unfreezes the companions and completes the quest.
Or commit a minor crime in front of a guard, such as punching an NPC, before the ceremony begins. Afterwards, a guard will confront you about your crime, allowing you to leave by being taken to jail. Once you serve your jail time or escape, return to Jorrvaskr and talk to Kodlak to complete the quest.
