Deleting leftovers from mods
I noticed a mod was running despite me having deleted the mod earlier before starting a new game. I found the leftovers in my mesh folder, but I don't know what will happen if I delete the folder. Corruption will still result, correct?

P.S. The mod simply moved 1H swords higher on the hip.

when i start a new game, i delete my my in-game saves, then i uninstall all my mods from Steam and Nexus, then Right-click on Skyrim in my list of games and scroll down to DELETE LOCAL CONTENT and left click on it= SKYRIM is now deleted. Then i go into my computer under DOCUMENTS / MY GAMES and delete all things Skyrim, then i reinstall Skyrim and start a new game with no leftovers from past game

Other mods will install meshes too, or some of them will. If you delete the entire folder you'll run into problems.

Either delete just the mod folder or delete everything and then reinstall everything, or at least the ones you know contains meshes.

Yup, Mod organizer does prety much the same thing. I just started using it and it has saved me on several occasion while testing mods for conflicts and playability.

Yep, I see no reason why people don't use these managers. Then they come here asking why somethings broken, short story USE A MOD MANAGER!. They are free and oh so easy to use. I'd personaly recommend NMM simply because it's made for the Nexus, and has support for many MANY other games. But MO is good too if you just play Skyrim.

Oh my, this is an old post. I will say that I used NMM for my mod organizer needs, and the mod still remained nonetheless despite unchecking it and removing it. I'm going back to modded Skyrim soon when I get my new monitor for my computer..

NMM does not leave things behind, the only way that would of happened is if you installed NMM in hoping to remove the items.

It does actually. NMM having problems with proper installation and uninstallation of files is well known and some popular mods dont have a Download with Manager button specifically because they got sick of NMM doing that and then recieving error reports because of it. The problem with NMM is that it installs everything to the same location, so when you uninstall something it tries to run a check and see if any removed files were needed by another mod, and then reinstall the correct version of that file which doesnt always work the way thats its meant to.
MO is the only mod manager that is litterally incapable of leaving files hanging around because it installs everything completely seperate

Been using it for years never had an issue, But thats how it works i guess.

It leaves files, if the file have been overwrited, NMM save one copy of it and puts the old one back when you uninstall one mod.

You find those files in games\nexus mod manager\skyrim\install info.
That is why MO need to import that map when migrating from NMM.

Are we talking about the same NMM? I tried it for a while and it kept putting the files in all the wrong places, and was unable to remove them. It took me quite a while to sort out the mess. I had to uninstall it and put the files in their correct places and I've never used it since.

By default, NMM places all files in to same folder:
<InstallationPath>\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data

Exactly where did it place those files for you and how recent version you were using?

That's quite long time ago. I used it for a long time and it never did that to me. Now I am using Mod Organizer instead.

Gopher made a good tutorial playlist about MO. I recommend that you watch at least the Introduction video, before you decide.

Quit using either MO or NMM for awhile and just use Wrye, then after awhile go back if NMM or MO updated big time
