Do you mean mods that add new custom races into the game? My understanding is they are pretty much all very unstable.

well yeah, any custom race

I wouldn't bother, tbh, unless you dont't mind a buggy, unstable game. I think there's one called Ningheim or similar that's popular, but IDK if it's stable or just people like the pretty characters for screenshots.

I have been using the Lunari (sp?) for the last 3 playthroughs without any issues. I would say just make sure you have the race compatability patch installed.

4 Pack of Elven Races:

Recommends manual installation so it may be a bit tricky to use in your prefered manager.

Predator:

Yes, that Predator. Arnie not included. Has a lot of extras as well as a compatibility mod for immersive armours

Ningheim:

Pretty nice human(ish) race with followers

Race Compatibility is a must:

I remember back in Morrowind good practice for making mods, was making your own race... It was the more simple mod to get you started, now... More trouble than its worth.

As for your search for mods, avoid the steam workshop, this may be the first reason you're struggling to find many, go through Nexus, get a mod manager and then try a few mods from there, try looking for specific things, so of you like the idea of playing as a lore friendly dwarf, search for it, if you want to play as an automaton made by the dwemer, search for it, I'm pretty sure Daedra have always been one of the first race mods to be made playable by modders, so if you fancy being a Draemora, then search for it. Because at the end of the day, people can suggest the best made mods in the world, but they may not be your style :)

Oh, another thing that might be worth trying if it's not so much you want a custom race as you find the vanilla racials boring, is a mod like Imperious - Races of Skyrim, which makes some pretty cool changes to the abilities, passives and whatnot. It's kinda tough if you're an Altmer, mind. (At least at low levels...)

i've been going through the nexus but the lovergirl race i found was neither on the nexus or steam workshop but i still want to find some good race mods with good looking females cause i'm kind of getting bored tweaking the vanilla females to make them look better, they also have to be cbbe compatable

Might be worth a look for OP. The reason I went a custom race is the facial bone structure is closest to what all my characters end up looking like, my wife. Less tweaking of the bones. With Lunari race all have to do is cheekbone, jaw and face roundness. Less is more in this case. :steamhappy:

Temptress, Lunari, Ashen-Oriental, are my three faves.

I use Ashen, Lunari, YGNord (ECE Race) and another one that eludes me but, only really mods that have some race specific stuff in have ever caused me issues, dont' recall any vanilla quest issues anyway - Lunari default textures are a bit over the top but you can replace them to your taste for another race flavour.
