[Solved] Problem with ENB/Sweetfx
I took a break from Skyrim for the past week to play MGS5 and when I came back to Skyrim and tried the launch it I was greeted with This message https://gyazo.com/453969702e7a57e5106bd37e3b641d33 Now the only change I have made to my computer is updating my drivers for MGS5, I made no change with anything related to Skyrim. It seems to work fine with some ENBs but not others, The ones with SweetFX folders get the error message and ones with out one work just fine. Any help would be appreciated. SPECS: i7-4790k, 8GB Ram, GTX 780, Windows 10. Yes I have Directx9 installed and yes I tried reinstalling it.

it is safe to just remove two of the injected files that SweetFX injects in the Skyrim directory:

Delete: dxgi.dll (or rename to dxgi.dll.bak)
Delete: dxgi.fx (or rename to dxgi.fx.bak)

These two are used by DirectX 11 games. So it has no effect. Removing these two files will stop the error.

It wont remove any of the effects?

Nope it was working just fine on windows 10 for a month then just stopped working yesterday thats why it had me stumped.

Maybe a Windows 10 update or the driver update reconfigured dx files. Windows doesn't do changelogs so it's hard to say for sure.

Or maybe the .dll files were dormant and couldn't get activated until the new GPU drivers provided an opening.

I don't know a lot about DLL's, but I'm guessing the answer is here.........somewhere.

Thanks. This fix worked for Fallout New Vegas too. Question: All is good on Windows 10 with this workaround, except I'm crashing like crazy.

Adding ".bak" or deleting the files outright gets rid of the error message when running in Windows 10. However, when running in Compatibility Mode for Windows 7/8, the ENB is causing an all black screen (though I do hear sound).

So, basically...

ENB+Windows 10 = Error message

ENB+Windows 10+ Delete/Rename DLL's = Everything ok but the game crashes non stop.

ENB+Windows Compatibility Mode+ Delete/Rename DLL's = All black screen (with sound)

ENB+ Windows Compatibilty Mode+ Leave original DLL's named as originally intended = Error message

How can you get an ENB to work on Windows Compatibility Mode? I want to keep Windows 10 but just change my compatibility properties for Fallout to prevent crashes.

Any ideas how to get this to work?

You might try to refresh your .Ini files as described here.

I know this thread is a couple months old, but I just wanted to let you all know I appreciate the appropriate answers given. The removal of the .dll and .fx files fixed my problem immediately. Normally I was able to play Skyrim with no issues, but the moment I tried to use OBS (Open Broadcast Software) to record my gameplay, this little error would pop up. That being said, it is now fixed, and I am forever grateful to everyone involved in fixing my issue. Cheers! :100:
