Headphone problem!
Hey, so from what I have looked at so far nobody seems to have had quite my problem. Essentially, everything BUT skyrim can be heard through my headphones. Skyrim just wont work. For example, if I have, say, spotify on, I will hear that through my headphones and skyrim through m speakers AT THE SAME TIME. So I am at a loss. Halp plz!

Select Control panel in windows, Hardware and Sound/ Manage Audio Devices, Select Speakers/Headphones as default.

Thanks fo the reply. It already is set to that. Like I said it works fine with everything else. It seems to be a problem with skyrim itself, but I can't access any options in the game. =/

I have the same issue, I've tried several different headphones and it hasn't ever worked.

Hey man! I have not solved the issue BUT I have discovered a few things since: It happens to every game I own that has any sort of surround sound, and it is mostly limited to what I should be hearing from the front (ie: the sides and back are still hearable from the headphones), but it may or may not be heard from the speakers. Sometimes the sound just is not there. I have also discovered the cause: If I have the audacity to unplug and replug the headphones whilst the game is open, or if I plug them in AFTER opning the game, the sound gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. So I reccommend you try having them plugged in before you do anything. Good luck! Still looking for answers btw x)

Hey, sounds like your speakers are configured as surround sound and they are not auto-switching to headphones/(regular) stereo. you might need to manually switch that when you plug them in.

Here's a quick YouTube video (not mine) on how to do that in Windows 7.

Hey man thank you for you imput (it was set at 5.1). Unofrtunately that has not helped at all. Now, when I plug or unplug the headphones, sound just dissapears (ie: had headphones at start of game, take them out, speaker have no sound, plug headphones back in headphones have no sound. Same applies the other way around). :/

Unfortunately, this is fairly common which is why there is a function in "Steam" > "Settings" > "Voice" for redetecting audio device. There is an explanation that states when an audio device is plugged in then removed redetection may be necessary.

Might want to check and update, if necessary, your audio driver/manager which might help with this issue..
