RealVision ENB help.
So, I decided to install an ENB mod and went for RealVision. It was my first time installing it so I used this video. Since I use MO over MM I had to stick with this. I did all the steps and it seems to have worked, but now my game has this problem with a black border on the top. Seen here.

Can anyone help me or tell me what I did wrong? I'm VERY new to this type of thing and even the how-to video was a little annoying to navigate through. I pressed shift+enter to bring up the ENB menu in-game and saw a "borderless" under the "Window" tab, but it isn't available for clicking. So I have no idea how to fix this.

I'm not sure it looks right either. Is it just me? Or is the weird greenish tint just part of the ENB when it rains?

Edit: I changed the weather to sunny and it seemed to look fine after that. Must have been the rain/sky at the time.

Edit: I've read to turn off Mist in the enbseries.ini, but it's already set to false. Read about opening up, "enbeffect.fx" and changing:

#define USE_LETTERBOX_EFFECT 1
#define fLetterboxOffset 7.8

to

// #define USE_LETTERBOX_EFFECT 1
// #define fLetterboxOffset 7.8

-But it doesn't work either. I also read about removing the file, "enbeffecfx" and replacing it with a new one, but I haven't tried that yet. Should I? People said there was a letterbox mode option, but I personally didn't see one when installing. It's also only the top half as you can see; not top and bottom.

No, get rid of the hash tags and replace them with the backslash.

No, get rid of the hash tags and replace them with the backslash.

// define USE_LETTERBOX_EFFECT 1 // blackens top and bottom of the screen
// define fLetterboxOffset 7.8 // size of screen to be blacken (in %) - Bars Size

Like this? Tried it and it didn't fix. :(

Usually I just use the ENB wrapper version and stick it into the main directory, then just download and stick the ENB present into the same directory overwritting everything else. I used to use RealVision but I run with something else now. Same principle. Use manual install. Then edit the Skyrim ini's to prevent graphic oddities

Essentially you're looking at how ENBoost installs. ENBoost just turns off all the fancy glares/DOF stuff but uses the same graphic compression.

If your running Hidalgo Boost you will have to proxy the dlls. If not.. you shouldn't have to proxy.

Oblivion ENB presents operate the same way. (Just a FYI)

I use: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65584/?

1. Download binary v0.262
d3d9.dll, enbhost.exe files into your Skyrim Main folder.

2. Download and extract VandB enb preset
then move into your Skyrim Main folder(Data folder inclusion).
Check on VandB ENB Nature.esp

Some ENBs do have an esp others do not...

The d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe are in the wrapper version of the binary. The present is usually just a modified enblocal.ini the other stuff is standard present stuff. So if you use the enblocal of ENBoost it will turn off the ENB effects, you will still be running the ENB technically, but without any of the cool things.

Of course each present may have different ini settings to modify..

5. Set value in SkyrimPrefs.ini

[Display]
fGamma=1.0000
bDeferredShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowsOnGrass=1
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bFloatPointRenderTarget=1

FloatPointRender is a common one on most, if not all ENB presents. I think the other settings are as well.. oh, and remember to:

Run Skyrim Launcher - Option
Antialiasing - Off
Anisotropic Filtering - Off

Realvision:

SkyrimPrefs:

[Imagespace]
bDoDepthOfField=1 <--- turn it to 0 if you want crystal clear underwater
[Display]
bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 <--- IMPORTANT! Without this value, ENB is not working correctly!
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1 <--- if you are using a Performance version and got ugly landscape shadows then set it to 0
bShadowsOnGrass=1
iMultiSample=0 <--- turning it to 0 is the same as setting Antialiasing to off in skyrimlauncher.
iMaxAnisotropy=1 <--- turning it to 1 is the same as setting Anisotropic Filtering to off in skyrimlauncher.
bFXAAEnabled=0 <--- turn it to 1 if you prefer Skyrim FXAA, but deactivate EdgeAA in enblocal.ini to avoid too strong blur.
fGamma=1.2400 <--- IMPORTANT! This is the in-game brightness RealVision is optimized for! Don't touch the in-game brightness after setting this.

Manual install of present:

Navigate to ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim, open enblocal.ini and set these values:

[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true <--- If you have 32 bit Windows, set it to "false".
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true <--- enables the ENBoost features to dramatically reduce CTDs.
DisableDriverMemoryManager=false <--- true for AMD users experiencing CTDs even while ENBoost features are enabled.
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false <--- enabling could potentially help to load a save game which fails to load otherwise but may cause stuttering.
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false <--- enabling this is generally not safe, but it's a workaround for users experiencing large amount of stuttering.
ReservedMemorySizeMb=XXX <--- start with 64, increase in increments of 128 ( 256, 384, 512, ..., 1024 ) until stuttering has ceased.
Only use >=512 with at least 2-3Gb VRAM.
VideoMemorySizeMb=XXXX <--- RAM + VRAM - 2048 (1Gb=1024) if your RAM < 8Gb. If you have RAM bigger or equal to 8Gb (8192Mb) use
(Total Available Video/Graphics Memory - [170 (for win7) or 350 (for win8/10)]).
EnableCompression=false <--- deactivating compression can reduce stuttering, but at the cost of more RAM usage.
It's generally recommended to be disabled on systems with more than 2Gb VRAM.
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false <-- Because it keeps guessing wrong.
[ENGINE]
ForceAnisotropicFiltering=true
MaxAnisotropy=16 <-- set to 8 for more FPS. optical difference is tolerable.
EnableVSync=true
AddDisplaySuperSamplingResolutions=false
VSyncSkipNumFrames=0
[LIMITER]
WaitBusyRenderer=false
EnableFPSLimit=false

Edit: Do use the most updated binary file of the ENB otherwise it will nag you about updating it.

Well, I did what the video said step by step the best I could since the mod has a new installation and it worked! It's just the black bar at the top. I've looked it up and seen only a handful of people have this problem. Other people talk about there being a Letterbox mode and not to check it, but I don't see that anywhere when installing it into MO. Again, the game looks great, but it's just the top bar now.

Anyone know?

Have you tried posting on the Realvision ENB page over at the Nexus?

I have, but the people who replied didn't read my link.. I posted in the comment sections for the RealVision thread that directs to this link, and the people asking failed to really take the time to read it/click it. Asking my questions that were already answered here.

Yea, that will happen. Just keep answering that you've tried it. Sorry i can't help, no idea why that strip fails to render even though the compass does.

People continue to say that I have letterbox enabled, but the new installation using MO doesn't even have an option for such a thing. So I'm really stumped. Especially since I don't really ahve a grasp on what I'm doing.

I think the back slashes disable the line of codes that they lay before (on a line by line basis). Maybe you're only getting a top border because the back slashes are before those two lines of code ?
I'm guessing that changing the line to #define USE_LETTERBOX_EFFECT 0 will disable the letterbox effect.

I've tried this also. It's so frustrating not knowing why this is happening. People continued to tell me there was a letterbox mode to disable/enable via installation, but I never got the option.
