Dual Wield Parry

You're not a noob so I won't go into specifics, but I find ice magic helps a ton when playing a spellsword. As do summons for aggro draw.
Haven't you ever heard of c*ck blocking? :) jk
You're a Battlemage. Who needs block when you're a Battlemage?
You can't block while Dual wielding ni vanilla. Single weapon or Sword and board only.
And its not impossible to be a spellsword - you just have to be *agile* and not stand there.
Yep. You can. And besides, when a Battlemage runs out of mana s/he can always equip the board.
There's also this stave mod:

Basically, you can use your wand as both a defensive shield and also charge it with elemental attacks (fire, lighting, frost). It's pretty neat and great for a magic build, as well as a spellsword.
Otherwise, casting things like Oakflesh would be decent for awhile.
The saves look pretty cool too:

Play on Legendary, and you'll get agile in no time!
Ice Form works pretty well, too.
I dont know why this isnt getting more attention this is the absolute best Dual weild blocking mod out there
