Mages are too OP on Legendary
They often destroy me in one shot. even the weak ones.

I have Lydia tank for me while I deal the damage from the back as I'm a light armor character, but if any stray spells hit me, I'M DONE.

If I'm directly up against one of them then it's a matter of how long I can keep up the disrupting game with shield bashes.

I don't wanna say it...

BUT ♥♥♥♥ MAGES.

Is this a common thing or am I just bad?

Use a bow and hit them from a distance.

If they start to get close use a resist magic potion or spell.

Use Posions, you can buy them from pretty much any alchemly shop get the drain magicka ones or the paralyse poisonsas they will be forced to take out their daggers and melee you.

Hope this helps.

I'm doing those things, but there are times where I can't run and kite them.

There are also some who outright one-shot me.

Isn't it called 'Legendary" for a reason?

You, you're the type of person who isn't helpful.

The game isn't challenging at any other difficulty, but it's not fun on Legendary.

I clear most dungeons with a hit-and-run tactic if I can, but it gets to a point it's not fun because of their health pool.

I wasn't being un-helpful. I was thinking you should consider the difficulty level when getting one-shotted. Sorry, I am not as good as you as I've gotten one-shotted on lesser levels. *shrug*

It's fairly common knowledge that the higher difficulty is just mostly higher HP (hence the boredom) and damage (for enemies) ... I would suggest not playing it or modding it (say with SkyRe or Requiem and playing on Expert or so) if you're not enjoying it.

Legendery increase your damage recieve by 3 times and increase there damage reduction by 3 times i believe(ontop of the gain healthbar)

Mages on legendry are still mage's.
This means mana depended.
My suggestion fighting mage's.
Avoid destruction magic and conjured weapons.
Wards block those.
Get/make powerfull posion.
Max out sneak.
Use lifedraining posion on your bow and hit a mage.
Hide.
Rise and repeat.
Eventualy they will die.
An other option is getting heavy magic resisted armor(you need smithing and enchanting for that)
An other option is to bring alone a follower.
Followers get the same bonuses they do.
Just give them epic gear, cast illusion buff's on them and enjoy the show.

I hear you can also craft godlike armor and weaponry.

Difficulty Player Damage Dealt Player Damage Taken
Novice 2x 0.5x
Apprentice 1.5x 0.75x
Adept 1x 1x
Expert 0.75x 1.5x
Master 0.5x 2x
Legendary 0.25x 3x

I understand that, yeah.

I just can't stand when people say "It's a higher difficulty for a reason, deal with it." instead of contributing to the discussion.

Thank you so much, I can use this to my advantage.

Just get Astronach standing stone to negate most of the damage. You could also do a quest from the priestes of mara in Riften and complete 3 very short questes to get pernament 15% magic resist. The Altmers sisters in Solitude can have some magic resistences amulets on sale.

Becoming Ethernal shout is also very usefull, I thing you get around 6 second invulnerability with just one word shout, but it wear off when you attack or use an item. You can quickly sprint to him without draining stamina and taking damage.

Funny thing, I'm on my way to Riften right now in game.
Keep forgetting to take that horse-drawn carriage outside of Whiterun. :/

That'll be a must on my to-do list, thanks!
I usually play on Legendary. The game is challenging and interesting.
I learned how to effectively dodge arrows and swords.
But damn are mages OP.

I'm serious

I hate the Challenger. He is the most OP with infinitive magicka. With the Balanced Magic mode he is even more annoying.

Oh, yeah, I have HIM to look forward to in about 32 levels. :/
