FIX: NPC Dialogue shortly cutting out when you walk / at certain angles
I don't know if anyone else is still having this issue where the audio of NPC dialogue will cut out very shortly when you turn around or walk past them and resume. I will post this in case someone with the same issue searches the steam forums.

I tried all the solutions I could find on the internet which included:

- Manually setting my speakers to Stereo
- Changing audio quality
- Enabling Virtual Surround
- Headphones (plugged in both directly to the PC and on the speakers)

None of these solutions worked. Here's how I fixed it on my end:

1) Go to your device manager
2) Sound, video and game controllers
3) Disable the device "NVIDIA High Definition Audio"
4) Disable the device "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

After disabling these 2 devices I launched the game and I never got those audio cutouts again.
You will also notice the audio mixing will be considerably different / quieter than before.

Hope this helps.

I'd also tried all the other things before finding your fix. This finally fixed the issue! I only had one of those other devices but disabling it did work. I didn't notice any overall sound volume change, but that might be due to not having the virtual device listed. Honestly surprised nobody has said anything in three years, but hey, here's a big Thank You from me because it was driving me nuts.

Welp, sadly it's back again. I checked to make sure the other device is still disabled, and it is. I tried running the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode, but that also didn't help. This wasn't a problem before and I'm out of ideas. Guess I just have to assume everyone in Skyrim has selective momentary amnesia.

check for any other unnecessary/unused sound devices you have in the sound control panel, not just the ones I mentioned. disable everything but the one you actually use. if that doesn't help i'm out of ideas
