What is ENB?

I have tried searching but I quite don't get it, maybe I'm just dumb. But what is it? I have seen many mods like ....ENB, and mods with compatibility with ENB or stuff like that. Is ENB a mod or a program or a system of mods?

I am not real experienced with ENB, but it is a program that enhances graphics post process. Basically it is a wrapper program that enhances the graphics by altering everything from color saturation to bloom to depth of field as well as a myriad of other things. It takes a fairly strong GPU to run a full ENB preset. A preset is a premade set of settings for ENB.

ya the real vision enb linked is hardcore and melt the lower end systems. others are slight tweaks and not so hard on your system.

Yeah, this is the one, and also the PureVision if I'm right. It's just that the 'ENB' part got me confused. The mod you sent says ENB is a collection of effects, so every ENB mod is about visual effects right?

Even in skyrim workshop has a category called ENB, so I assume ENB is mods that change visual effects, but still not sure.

Actually, yes it is a kind of program. But not like SKSE which is not a program, but a set of extra commands that extend the scripting functions of papyrus which is the scripting language that the game engine uses.

No, not mods, but a preset of settings for the ENB to use.

It's something that was created by an individual that is actually used on several games, not just skyrim. Think of it as an all in one graphics enhancer. It tackles several things at once, SSAO, depth of field, shadow detail, reflection, SSIL (list goes on and on). Take what cfs111 said to heart, though. it is a memory eater, and unless your system rocks can destroy your fps. There is an enb booster to go with it, but I still wouldn't use unless you know your system can nail it. My laptop would have a seizure, lol.

I have close to the best gaming notebook money can buy. And even so without ENB Preset I get a steady 60 FPS. With ENB I fluctuate between 20-25 FPS. And that AFTER allocating 512Mb to memory. If I only relegated 256 to memory I would only be getting 5 FPS. Does that exp[lain what a memory hog ENB is? But if your notebook/PC has the juice then it's worth it.

ENBoost is recommended though, you get a performance boost but all the effects are turned off.

ENBosst is generally turned on in the presets. But the ENB will be resource intensive. So just the Boost part. My R9 280X 3GB has trouble with ENB's and much textures at all, I prefer the textures, so I leave the ENB's alone. Just ENBoost for the performance kick.
