Selling but not receiving money
I have invested in one of the shops, and now that I'm selling stuff in that shop, I'm not getting any money, despite the shop having plenty of money.

I'm using the leveled shopkeep mod and I've invested 500 gold into the shop and now I dont get my moneys worth

Well in vanilla all that happens is the merchant gets 500 gold permanently added to their normal amount of gold, not sure what the levelled shopkeep mod does, can't find it on the Nexus, so I guess it's Workshop only.

Link to the mod please, I can't find it either. And do you mean when you sell an item you get no gold at all, but the item is sold?

That's indeed what happened.
I reloaded the save and sold a bit slower, guess I was a bit to enthusiastic with selling items

I know that there is a 2 bit limit for merchant gold, if they have more than 32676 gold it will glitch out and you will not receive any gold for selling items. Make sure to always keep thier gold under this amount.

Aha, the shopkeep at that moment had 33k gold. I'll keep that in mind

2 bits can only store a value up to 3. In order to store a value of 32676 you would need a minimum of 15 bits if unsigned; 16 bits if signed. You probably meant to say byte. 2 bytes = 16 bits. Also, that would make the limit 32767 gold assuming the value is signed.
