The First Dragonborn is a Sissy

I'm not sure if it is a glitch or not but I hit him too much and he didn't recover enough HP when he absorb the last dragon soul. Insead of attacking me, he is stuck there refusing to fight at all. Do I really need to restart the fight again???

Well, if you hit him enough to break his AI, then you're more than capable of killing him again.
Do you have Unofficial Patches installed? They fix a lot of issues like this.

Also don't use a really OP weapon ... that will bug your game out, because he has to heal.

If you still have the save from the fight, Try taking out one of his dragons... that sometimes breaks him free. worked for me more than once
