Sound Problem With Razer Synapse (SOLVED)
So I just spent hours trying to make sound work in Skyrim. I did tons of things and none worked. Eventually I found out that Synapse 2.0 was causing the problem. So after uninstalling it, Skyrim's sound works fine, but everything else sounds like crap and I don't get surround sound. And I do not want to have to keep uninstalling Synapse every time I want to play Skyrim. I am using Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma.
Does anybody know if there is some sort of fix to this? I have already scoured the pages of Google, and nothing seems to work.

Can't you just disable Razer Surround or close it while playing Skyrim? Relaunch the program when not playing Skyrim.

I am not sure why you have to uninstall it.

Closing it does nothing, as I am pretty sure that as long as the program is installed, is takes over control of your drivers. You only need to launch Synapse so you can configure sound settings.

Well for Skyrim sound should be set to Sound default 24 bit 48KHz stereo

I see, I have only used Razor Surround a little, but when you have it installed, usually both Razor Surround and your speakers are checked together in the playback tab of your sound properties.

You should be able to uncheck Razor Surround so only your speakers or headphones are used.

I use DFX Audio Enhancer and it works similiar to Razor Surround and I have to disable it for Skyrim too because you can't hear NPC's talk.

Yep, it is already set to that. I have also changed it to all the other Sound Default settings, and none work.

My speakers are already disabled in the playback tab. And when you say Razer Surround, do you mean Razer Synapse or my Razer Krakens? I don't see anything in the playback tab that says that.

I am going off of memory here, but I believe it said Razor Synapse. It would have a green check mark and your speakers/headset shows a telephone symbol.

Nope, there is nothin under the playback tab that says Razor Synapse. My Razer Krakens are already set as my default device and everything else is disabled.

Okay I just reinstalled Razer Surround.

It says Speakers Razer Surround Audio Controller in the sound properties and has a check mark next to it as the default device.

Then within Razer Surround you select your audio interface. Speakers or Headset.

That is how you use Razer Surround normally.

To disable Razer Surround, Razor Surround Audio Controller should be unchecked in your sound properties and your speakers/headset should be checked instead.

Then just close Razor Synapse.

That is how it works for me anyways, but I don't have a Razor headset so I am not sure how that affects things.

What do you mean by sound properties? How exactly do I access that?

Go to control panel, icon view and select Sound. I use it so much that I make a shortcut to it on my desktop for easy access.

You can also access it from the speaker icon on the taskbar under playback devices.

If windows 10 you can right click the speaker icon by the clock then choose Playback Devices

So sound properties = Playback devices. Okay, there was just a little bit of confusion there. I was already in playback devices and nothing was there except for my headphones. There was nothing that said "Razer Surround" or "Razer Synapse"

Ah sorry I guess that is what I have always called it. :p

That is weird that it is not there for you.

Mine is listed under a set of Speakers and says Razer Surround Audio Controller under it.

Perhaps you are using an older version of the software.

I don't think I have Razer Surround at all, but all my games still have 7.1 surround sound, though. I am using the latest version of Synapse. I will install Surround and see if anything has changed.
