RaceMenu: Missing face overlays
Best to bring this up, because peoples are asking.

As you may have noticed, face overlays are currently disabled in RaceMenu. NiOverride has a problem causing game to crash during decapitations, if you have face overlays active.

For most part RaceMenu overlays are targeted to player. If you have disabled killmoves targeted to player (from mod like VioLens), then it should be safe to turn active. However, if you do experience crashes from NPC decapitations, then change value back to 0 and live without face overlays, until problem is fixed.

You can change this setting from nioverride.ini:
bEnableFaceOverlays=1

Those who have absolutely no idea if this touches them are probably untouched by it. :)

Edit: Explanation in #2, seeing that it was needed.

I have no idea what a Face Overlay is, so I'm safe. Good :)

We can't allow that, now can we? XD

RaceMenu has an option to add different overlays over the character body. These can be marks, scars, beauty marks, tattoos, war paint etc. NiO works well for this, except that it now has a problem with decapitations. Overlays on face (for example added tattoos) can crash the game to desktop. It seems that overlays are not cleared properly during the decapitation and game closes from the error.

I tested this with VioLens and got my game to crash to desktop several times. However, after disabling killmoves targeted to player (recommended), I didn't encounter any crashes. Thus, problems affects most to those using NiO to add face overlays to NPCs, or mods using the feature to add face overlays to NPCs.

My own solution was to disable player targeted killmoves and set all my mods using NiO not to provide any face overlays to NPCs. So far I haven't encountered problems with face overlays active.

And peoples thought I was finally playing the game, when they saw I was running it. Perish the thought: I doubt I will ever have time to actually play it again. :p

Well, good to know :)
I remember having a tatoo mod, which apparently was a face overlay. The more you know.

if you not actually playing keeps benefiting the rest of us than I agree you should never actually play again. good choice.

Thanks for this! I was wondering why I couldn't add any face overlays. Thanks again!

NiO is fully included to RaceMenu. If you use RM, then this does touch your game.

Unless an NPC has a face overlay, then it would happen when they get decapitated. I don't know any mods that add that, though.

Personally, I can't stand not having face overlays, so I've had them enable since they made this change. Haven't experienced a single crash from this yet.

Using VioLens clears the problem in any case.

Disabling those player targeted killmoves is a good idea anyway, seeing that they are buggy. Well, not exactly "bugged", but game calculates estimate of player health, so they can get killed, while they would have actually survived from the blow.

There are some mods that include NPC overlays. Those are usually adult mods, like SlaveTats.
