I think at one point you were supposed to be able to use them, but they were never implemented, so you can't even hold them like a weapon.
I don't believe there's a MOD for their use...at least I've never seen one, but it doesn't mean one doesn't exist.
Yes, but what they were saying was...
Like in New Vegas, you were supposed to be able to use a shovel to, for instance, Dig up a body at the Graveyard...there are graveyards all over Skyrim you know.
But unlike New Vegas, Skyrim never implemented the action of using a shovel, hoe, or rake.
I was told at one time that Skyrim was supposed to allow you to "farm" and grow crops and to own a farm. Part of the immersiveness of the game.
However, for whatever reason, this was never implemented. So none of the farm tools are used. But at least you can sell them.
I myself don't even bother with them....they weight too much for me to want to lug them around LOL
