firebolt spell

I need a Fire bolt spell to enter the Winterhold college. I bought one from Faralda at the entrance but doesn't show in my inventory. Can anyone help me to obtain the spell and pass the test she requires.

If you get it from Faralda you already have it in your magic section, in destruction magic. You dont get one tome.

If you've killed the dragon at the Western Watchtower, you can also tell her that you're the Dragonborn, in which case she asks to see a Shout in action.

I don't think that's how it works. You have to go to Parthurnaax and he must send you to find the Elder Scroll. Then you can say you're the Dragonborn

I went back and bought it from Faralda. Also saw it in my magic(which I don't use). But when told I need to pass the test I don't know how to start that. If I pass the test do i get the key to the college?

Cast the spell at the seal on the ground. After that, she will let you in. Talk to Mirabelle for a tour and some free gear.

No it's not. I've always killed the dragon at the Western Watchtower before going to Winterhold and that dialogue option has never come up. It's either a persuasion option, which apparenty is almost impossible to succeed on, or do the test.

you can go to college at any time in the story line, you DO NOT have to kill dragon at western watchtower in order to go to college.

Getting into the college is the harder part, the spell she makes you cast requires magicka = make sure you have enough to cast any spell she asks you to cast, she sells the spell she asks you to cast.

And who ever said anything about HAVING to kill a dragon? All we were talking about is if it enables another dialogue option

Well, maybe he means not using them in a long term. I might want to level up two-handed to increase my PC level, but in the end I will not use it in seirous combat

She asks you to CAST it. you need to USE it.

ok guys...I used the firebolt on the diagram on the floor....she got pissed at me and started firing firebolts at me as an enemy.....I need to get into the college for a quest to finish the Forbidden Legend quest. I have done 2 parts but need a key from a colege quest. Thanks for all the previous replies. Now I need one more answer.

You don't need to go there to finish the Forbidden Legend. You just need to read a book "Lost Legends of Skyrim" that can be found in many places. I think there is one in Dragonsreach, at the bookshelf in Farengar's laboratory.

I believe you didn't shoot the Firebolt, but instead the Firball. It's stronger than the Firebolt, and it also has splash damage, so you might've accidentaly attacked Faralda

Oh wait. You mean you have to go to Saarthal. Indeed, you have to go the College.
I don't know how long have you been trying to enter the College, but you can try and load a save from before you went there. She will give you a different spell, which might be easier to cast, or something.
