Become a Bard mod disappeared.

Hey all

I recently started playing Skyrim again and instead of playing it on my 360, I instead bought it on steam so I could try some of the really good mods out there.

While searching for a mod that could allow me to become a bard from the Bards College I saw one called "Become a Bard." So I eagerly subscribed to it but as I'm only level 12 and haven't reached Solitude yet I didn't really get to "Become a Bard" yet.

But, today as I was about to play my game again I opened the launcher to sync all my mods before I open the SKSE launcher to play the game it said that "Become a Bard" wasn't working right and would be unsubscribed. And lo and behold when I went into the "Become a Bard" workshop page it was missing. I checked nexus mod and nothing there as well. Tried a google search to find some info and nothing.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could have happened other than the author just not supporting it anymore?

OK well download didnt work per say as I had aleady unsubbed, >< I did show in data list just no where else,
Unfortunately other bardic mod that RELY on that one wont be useable partially either =(

Well I downloaded it, like I said from the reddit link and have had no crashes whatsoever. So that's good. I haven't tried it playing it myself since I haven't got to Solitude yet.

Go to the reddit link posted earlier on this discussion. Scroll down and you will see a download link. Download it and you will get two files. If you use NMM or the like go into it and enable it and you should be sorted.

I did that and it's working so far ok.

Yeah exactly. I downloaded it, placed both files in my Skyrim data folder and enabled it in NMM and it's now working. Although I haven't exactly tried the mod yet in game since I haven't reached solitude. But, no problems so far.

WOOHOIO THANK YOU THANK YOU LOVE LOVE YOU,. thanks again all was able to to get it working again, Ive never tried the "add mod" from file in the green plus sign of NMM worried I'd add it wrong and break something
But got it working wonnnndeerful the only thing is I was past diplomatic quest and didnt have the viarmo dossier for the back story which I was very very interested in , but with the additem menu mod was able to get it back, just hope the back story still kick in at some point from viarmo, just have to get my bar level / points back up again =D once again Thank you Sailtire and everyone else

Ohh side tho on anduiels steam bard mod , she has said, the "become a bard " mod is on a friends only view, and that you try your luck with asking to be their friend, thsu alowing you to still see it !

On another side I never could get the custom thing right, I had it set up right, mp songs coverted to wmx or what ever it was, and in game I'd get playing lute animation and people dancing animation just no sound, and Ive seena few others have had the same problem

I got an ingame message tonight saying there was a new version and to download it, the file is still missing so Im presuming the author is fine tuning it

There's a more recent version out. On the Become a Bard Steam Page, scroll down to:
"What if I don't like using Steam to manage my mods?
No problem. You can download the latest version here[bardsandmerchants.com].
The most current version is 5.0.7, released on December 19, 2015."

Is it safe to download this mod from the above site

I wanted to reply to this a few days ago anyways, if its the mod im thinking off the guy is an ass and the only reason why he hid it from nexus is because it was having issues and he didnt want to appear badly by acting like an ass like he was about it, someone pointed it out again recently so he took it down like a child.

Yea mods are free but they get donations and I do appreciate it but if your going to keep your mods up have the courage to take it down or admit you dont want to work on it anymore.

i've still got it but it's a shame he took it down,then again mods get stolen and uploaded to a Russian pay site,like mine did that stopped me modding...rant over

Yes, it is. The version on Reddit is version 5.06 and I can verify there is a bug with that one where the same "Perform for [X] Jarl" mini-quest will keep coming up. The problem seems to be solved with version 5.07 (the one through the download section of bards and merchants). It's safe to download and you can even load it through NMM by clicking "Add Mod from File." It will unpack it and you can activate it like normal.
