Edit: nvm they ride their own horse not yours.
Some mod followers like Arissa can too if you use the patch for Convenient Horses, but I think others won't unless you cast the AFT spell on them. I am not sure how safe that is as it warns you against it for custom followers.

EFF apparently lets your followers ride without CH. I've not tried that so IDK if you have to buy horses for them or if they just appear. It's *meant* to be compatible with CH, but in my last game my EFF-handled followers never got their horsies (and I couldn't see any way to give them horsies through EFF) while Arissa (who is not and should not be handled by any follower mods) had her horse just fine (although she did bring it into Dead Man's Drink with her when dismissed...)
Inigo, a follower mod, can be given a horse if you speak to him while near a horse that you own. He will be most grateful for this wonderful gift.
Vilja, another follower mod, has her own horse named Bruse, who she can, I think, ride even if you do not own a horse.
Immersive Horses I haven't tried yet, you can assign horse ownership to your followers BUT they cannot ride them without EFF, according to the mod's description and reviews. EFF is great, thoguh, and I'm gonna try this combination on my next playthrough. You need to install IH before you meet any horses, though, or those horses won't be 'recognised' by it and won't work with its system. CH can be installed at any time. Brodual and someone else (Shinji, maybe??) have good reviews comparing the two mods which can be found on IH's nexus page. It is NOT compatible with AFT.
Horse mods, like follower mods, can be quite complex, so always read ALL the description, any linked further info pages, the stickies and first couple of pages of comments on the posts tab, and NEVER, EVER uninstall mid-game and play on with saves that depended on them.
Immersive Horses is meant to be significantly lighter in terms of scripting, so if you're running a lot of heavy scripted mods like Frostfall, Requiem, Hunterborn etc, I'd suggest trying that one, though I've never noticed any issues from CH's scripts.
The second one is for your followers . Instead of getting ( horses for followers ) which can be buggy , just get ( Mounted Followers ) . This one provides horses for your followers , and they will ride other horses you buy for them too.
