The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
1001 ways to die... Requiem, Frostfall, and iNeed! Oh my! [6th of Sun's Dawn]
A few people had been following my "I'm tired" thread and it was fun. But, unfortunately, despite gimping myself like crazy (no crafting, Necromancer's amulet, crappy armor), I was still a goddess by level 43. I had been interested in playing an overhaul mod for quite some time, but I was afraid. See, I'm a bonified wuss, I suck at games, I really do. I only play Skyrim well because I know the game, not because I'm actually any good at it. But, I decided to grow a pair and download some of the big overhaul "survival" mods. I took a lot of time and sorted my load order and for those who contributed to that thread, a hearty thanks. It was hard to decide between SkyRe and Requiem, but I finally opted for Requiem as it changes the game more. I don't really want to rely on my prior knowledge.

EDIT 10/25/2014: This thread is a work in progress. I will make some edits accordingly. I will probably strike references of Lilithia being dragonborn from this thread, as I don't feel that that's the direction her build is going in. While she's not evil, she is also not nearly as self-sacrificing as the Paladin Aelberon, who is a far more suitable candidate for Dragonborn status. Will their paths cross? Who knows? She can still more than likely do the Mage's guild and assume a position of power as archmage. That is better suited to her personality.

EDIT 7/20/2014: I have below my load current load order, if anyone is curious about downloading any of these mods. If memory serves, I installed them based on Mod recommendations from their respective Nexus pages and I was very careful to select mods designed to work together. Here is the step by step process and it worked for me. After every few mods, I'd run LOOT and test the game to make sure nothing exploded. All textures are full, but I have a decent rig, if you don't, please don't be stupid and use the full textures, go do light instead. Download all mods at your own risk.

1. I reinstalled the game and made sure there were no mods still left.
2. Installed the unofficial patches
3. Installed SKSE
4. Installed LOOT
5. Installed SkyUI & iHud
6. Installed basic textures

-HQ Snow
-Better dynamic snow (overide HQ)
-Enhanced distance terrain
-SMIM (there is one that you don't overide with BDS)
-Skyrim HD (overide SMIM)
-Skyrim flora overhaul (Overide SMIM & Skyrim HD)
-Crimson tide

7. Installed the ENB, weather, & lighting clusterfudge.

-Project Reality - default settings
-Supreme Storms - default settings
-Climates of Tamriel weater patch - default settings
-Enhanced Lighting and FX
-Realvision ENB

8. Installed WATER - let it overide SMIM
9. Installed Character enhancement mods (Xenius, face unlocker, hairstyles, elf skin)
10. Installed World enhancing mods (Expanded Cities and Towns, Wet and Cold, Winter is Coming, Cloaks of Skyrim)
11. Installed Frostfall & iNeed
12. Installed Requiem, Requiem Resorces, and Requiem patches
13. Ran LOOT one more time to check order and sorted
14. Played game
15. Installed two more mods, but they are very minor and have not affected the game.

Here is the actual load order as it appears in NMM. LOOT did everything up until Requiem, which I then did myself, as I just wanted it and its patches last.

FINISHED EDIT

HAHAHA, I made a booboo right at the start. First, I activated Frostfall and iNeed while I was on the wagon with Ulfric, Ralof, and Lokir. Whooopsies, that killed Lokir for some wierdo reason and made me naked in the middle of a wagon with a bunch of strange men, and we couldn't have that, so I had to reload.

OMG, then I take an hour to make my character. I wanted to roll as a high elf, so I downloaded the usual basics in character enhancement (Xenius, Ultimate NPC face unlocker, some hairstyles mods, and a mod that makes high elves a bit paler). Here's what I came up with.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=286439612

She doesn't look too bad. Especially for a High elf. Less "drag queenie" than the typical high elf does with long hair. Her name is Lilithia. Sorta Lore-friendly. I actually used a Vanilla preset. Bottom row, middle, believe it or not. That preset is pretty nasty.

http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111105174750/elderscrolls/images/c/ca/44156_Altmer_normal.jpg

So... Alduin decides to pay a visit and Lilithia jumps to the inn from the tower like she's supposed to. Wow, never lost THAT much health making that jump before. This is gonna be interesting...

Made it to the keep and I configured Requiem, iNeed, and Frostfall. Not gonna lie, I tweaked a lot of stuff. Solved heavy armor issues, raised my carry weight, increased my damage output, made gold weightless, decreased my damage intake, made npc arrows less accurate, nerfed frostfall a bit (I really don't want to make fires every 10min), and tweaked some other things. Remember, I'm a wuss, and I have a ton of new things to get used to (interface, new HUD, etc).

That may not have been the best idea as poor Lilithia was IMMEDIATELY hungry and thirsty. Geez, you'd think General Tullius would feed the prisoners some food and water during the trip. Lilithia and Ralof dispatched the first group of enemies, though it is WAY harder, lots of running and weapons hit HARD. Didn't die though! Yay! Ralof is useless by the way. She's sooooo hungry by the time she's finished with the first two enemies that her magicka and stamina stop regenerating. At least there is food in the next room. Mmmm... Food...

It's all raw. Damn it! Ralof is still useless. He must be hungry too. Lilithia plays "dodge the evil Imperials" for about 5 minutes and zaps them with whatever pitiful magicka she has left, until she manages to nab a piece of bread while they're all running around the table. Not hungry anymore, but still very thirsty. Once she killed the Imperials, the focus shifted to finding something to drink. She found an empty waterskin, but no water. Now she's REALLY thirsty (thank you iNeed notifications). That alto wine on the table is looking sooooo good now. Why not? Bottoms up!

She's not thirsty anymore, but she's now stone drunk. Haha, I get the "I'm feeling good and warm" notification and everything. So, Lilithia is stuck in a dungeon with a useless Nord and now she's drunk, which, I have since learned, kills the magicka regen. A drunk mage with no magicka. Well, I'll cut her some slack, the Empire tried to cut off her head and then a giant black dragon attacked. Under those circumstances, I'd drink too. Time to grab the sword and shield looted from the crazy Imperial in heavy armor, cause stamina is now up the wazoo. The benifit of booze. On to the next room! Mebbe Ralof should have a drink too!

She hasn't finished Helgen yet, she just has spiders and the bear left, but I'm having a great time. Not sure how she'll do those since she's drunk. It's hard, but fun. The needs sort of pop up at you. Hopefully once she gets to Riverwood, she can regulate the needs a bit better, so it is not creeping up at inopportune times. Her skills, ehem, once she sobers up ;) will be Destruction, Restoration, Alteration, Enchanting, and perhaps Block cause I always enjoy a good Bash 'n Fry. Thanks for looking. :D:

I like the fact that you are willing to call everyone a skooma addict. Once I found some random person on the road (their name was the same as their race and I forgot it) who wore prison clothes. They attacked me with their bare hands and I thought "this must be drugs or alchohol" and sure enough I was right. They had about a dozen bottles of various alchohols on their body and 2 bottles of skooma.
Oh man, I hope Lilithia goes to investigate the burrow soon! And poor old Narko, I always feel so bad for the poor guy. Although it's a bit creepy if you go when you're a moderate sort of level and the alchemical ingredients he gives you occasionally include bits of dead people... Maybe that's why a certain other quest involving him exists...

Mae's updated her blogs (WP lets you have comments without fuss, Tumblr makes it easy to add pics without a hosting site. *sigh*) It's tricky to keep it spoiler free without being frustratingly vague, I suspect I haven't quite got the balance yet. Still, it should be entertaining if only for the fact that I'm trying to get into the swing of writing like an American teen (albeit one from an AU where everything's kinda stuck in a sweary post-nuclear warfare version of the 50s, culturally). Given I am a 30-something Brit, you can imagine how awesome I am at it. (Probably about as good as the average Harry Potter fanfic writer is at writing British teenagers' dialogue...)
Just realized I mispelled barrow. Lol, I've not had nearly enough coffee today. Not sure what she'll do, she has some unfinished business with the Jarl of Falkreath and I scared of the undead.

You really are a Nut - lol. Lilithia always spells things incorrectly. Besides, you could have got away with it "so easily" by claiming Lilithia always thought a barrow was something for wheeling vegetables about on, but she knows a burrow is underground because that's where bunnies come from. Not sure what she'll do? That's what makes her so interesting. She's wonderfully single minded yet somehow still manages to go off on one from time to time. Love it. :D

She has been a blast, so much more fun to play than my other Altmers, who were all world-dominating baddies. I dunno if she's good or bad, but she certainly has a personality.
I'm the type of player that really enjoys player homes, so I scattered a few across Skyrim for Lilithia to stumble across. All of them are unmarked, except Mage's Rest, which marked undiscovered, so she wont see it in her compass anyway. This is awesome. She may find them, she may not. It's all up to chance.

Mammoth Manor - the largest of the homes and located near Halfmoon Mill. Typical mod by Lupus, well-made and organized, yet still comfy looking. This is probably the endgame home, as it has the most storage and stuff. BEST view of Lake Ilinalta EVER. Must tackle spiders to get.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52460/?

Forgotten windmill - Located in Eastmarch, North of Ivarstead, against the mountain. Nahkin makes some very creative homes. When I first went in it on another playthrough, it didn't suit my needs, but I am revisiting it now. The location is stunning. The house will be a bit tricky with Barbas, but it still works, as I had tested it earlier. Master lock to pick, so Lilithia's got a challenge if she wants in.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24933/?

Mage's Rest - located in the Southern Rift, near Lost Tongue Overlook, so dragons will spawn nearby. Very unusual look, as the previous home owner was from Solstheim.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36151/?

Reachwind Eyrie - A revamp of the tower in the Reach near the Orc stronghold. Now, through a quest, you can acquire a potential follower and obtain this as a player home.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12760/?

Marcatos Dreamworld - I'm taking Lilithia to Solstheim and this home is an interesting first home. Back in a cave and by then, she would have been exposed to Vaermina through the Dawnstar quest. I like thinking homes like this, and all of the homes have backstories.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48862/?

Fahliil Alok - I enjoy Dawnguard a great deal, especially the Forgotten Vale. Hehehe, now there is a player home inside using Falmer archetecture.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55950/?

While I like the Vanilla homes, I've lived in them so many times that I don't need them in this playthrough. Also, barring being Thane of Whiterun, because you're sort of forced to be, I don't see her becoming the Thane of any of the holds. It doesn't suit her character at all. The homes are also not too big. I can't stand the large mansions.

Lilithia has always taken pride in her work, whether it is enchanting or this menial chopping wood business. She thought she was productive over at the abandoned mine, but the scenery of Ivanahamelstead really inspires her to work and be creative. Hearing the birds chirping and feeling the warm (sort of) sun on her face makes the morning routine much more bearable.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292185844

After selling her wood to Fat Arms and conversing with Happy Elf, Lilithia was stopped by another courier. New Holiday. Ok, last straw, this Holiday better deliver because she is no longer near a major city and has to travel ALL the way to Riverapids to celebrate. The flyer promises fireworks, they better be there. At least she knows that if they are not there or not up to her standards, she can complain officially to some college up North. The College of Wintergrasp. They are incharge of the display.

She had not crafted extensively since the day before Saturalia, so it was time to enchant some staves. She managed to find a local blacksmith, she can't remember his name, who would purchase them without a problem. He has even heard of them and was willing to pay a higher price as staves of such quality were rare in this area. She is still operating at a loss, but now she can create simple soul gems at a smelter and her powers of the arcane are steadily improving. She is hindered by poor soul gem quality though. If only she could find a grand soul gem or two. She has one, a black one, but she will not waste it until her enchanting skill is worthy of such a valuable item. She has run out of iron staves and is low on steel. She will need to craft more later. (Aside: bleh, looks like I'll have to perk smithing to get the best staves. This stinks a bit).

Confounded! Owwwwww! Bumped into Kapack's supplies again! This little home isn't big enough to store anything extra. Might as well take it to the priests up in the mountain and clear some space.

Kapack mentioned that the trek was dangerous, but Lilithia only ran across one ice wolf. She found two troll carcasses and assumed that they had fought each other and succumbed to their wounds and another wolf carcass. There were little shrines that toldl a tale of the ancient dragon wars as she rode up the mountain, but she could not read all of them as a brutal mountain squall set in on the last third of the journey. No time to dawdle when one can't even see, so the supplies were thrown into the chest and Lilithia quickly made her way down the mountain, freezing every step of the way...

So chilled to the bone when she arrived back at Ivalhamenshlemmenstead, that she couldn't even see straight.

Yes! The warmth of a good hearth fire. Warm food, warm body, Mmmmmm warm drink. She felt like ale tonight. It is also the drink she has the most of. She needs to expand her inventory.

Yes! Fire! Hahahaha, Ooooooo, soooooo pretty. Whoops! Burned the bed! Damn it! Awwww, no more magicks. Ugh, time to sleepy...

Surely Riften's more local than Riverrapids, now? Might be worth checking out, see if they're more fun than those Midlanders... (I don't have that mod, dunno if they have the festivals in the other cities, too?)

Yes, but she hasn't discovered Riften yet, she only knows Riverapids. I'm sort of playing this like she's not discovered certain locations (I only have enemies show up on my HUD, no mapmarkers or compass) and is marking them on her imaginary as she goes. I know there is a cartographer's mod, but like the journal, it's too hard to put in. Besides, she needs to back track to Folkdead to take care of two bounties, which will put Riverapids closer.
Автор останньої редакції: Skyrimnut; 27 лип. 2014 о 11:15
What would really be cool would be a mod that blocks out places you haven't yet found or heard about on the map and then the world map gradually expands as you discover more locations.
That's true, I guess I was thinking one of the locals might point out that if she's been disappointed by Riverrapids' celebrations she could try the nearer city? If you don't want to rush there, though, that's fair enough!
29th of Evening Star

Very early start, but Barbas kept her entertained as she chopped. He told her stories of his past. There was a Redguard warrior once that he was fond of, Cyrus, and Barbas would shapeshift to look like him. But he prefers being a dog. Sometimes Clavicus Vile would grow tired of him and banish him for a century or two, but his power is bound to Barbas, so Barbas is always asked back. Lilithias asked why bother staying with Vile then? Barbas thought for a bit. They are both Daedra. Lilithia wouldn't understand, but he is bound to that realm even if he does not agree with Vile all the time. Sure, he enjoys manifesting in Nirn and adventuring, but this is not his home. He will stay with Lilithia until she no longer needs him, he has grown very attached to her.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292186760

Fat Arms was very pleased with Lilithia's chopping and let her have a few days off for the holidays. Finally, a reasonable mill owner who understands that Lilithia has other things to do that are more important than chopping wood. Two Folkdead bounties still needed to be done, so Lilithia and Barbas set out early for Folkdead hold. Helgen proved too tempting though, and they stopped for an impromptu bandit raid. But really, Lilithia wanted to see if there was anymore mead with juniper berries left. That stuff was so delicious, and she only has five bottles left. Damn it. No more mead.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292360343

The bandit camps were on the Western part of the hold, close to the border with the Reach. Why can't every Skyrim name only have one word. The Reach is so simple to remember. So she had to take the road past Vampire Mill and then cross the wilderness. Just when she passed Vampire Mill. Spiders! Six of them! She managed to dispatch two before she was poisoned. Unable to see, she was striking wildly at blobs, following their noises. She managed to kill two more in that state. Barbas took care of the rest. When she recovered her eyesight, she discovered where the spiders were coming from. There was a house by the Lake. A grand home. Where were the owners?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292407592

Oh dear. Already wrapped in spider's silk. She didn't want to linger in case there were more spiders. This was a pretty serious infestation. When she arrives at Folkdead after the bounties, she will inform the Steward about this accident.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292407635

The bandit camps are farther than expected and Lilithia expects that she is now lost. She stumbles upon a fire, but this is different. Bandits don’t do this. She recognizes the burns from Helgen. Dragons again. She hadn’t seen one since, but she knew that big one was still out there.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292407672

She is getting much better at this whole bandit camp raiding thing. Of course having Barbas helps. He is an excellent distraction. She has a technique now. Cast a flesh spell. Bash the opponent, and when they stagger, shoot them with frost. Frost drains their stamina and they cannot power attack. This is especially effective against two-handers. Mages are a bit more tricky as Lilithia cannot be hit by them. She opts for lighting in that situation. If they are drained of magicka, they cannot fight back and they are almost too easy to kill.

Both locations yielded significant amounts of ore. Dagger tip Ridge had iron and Vomit Urge had Ochuchalihamalum, or whatever. It was green and it looked valuable. She got 60 ores of it. She had to set up camp at Vomit Urge as it was very late and she was worried about vampires. She doesn't like vampires.

Drink of choice: Ale, boring ale, two bottles.

Slept in. No need to get up early to chop any wood! Headed over to Folkdead and collected the bounties and sold her loot. Spoke to Nenya about the spider attack. She knew the owner of the house, a retired Mammoth slayer. The Jarl has had his eyes on that house for years and was using his Imperial connections to pressure the owner to sell, but the owner wasn't budging. Nenya is sly though and doesn't mind helping out a fellow Altmer. She mentioned, that if Lilithia found the key to the home, Nenya wouldn’t dispute ownership and she could then stick it to the little imp. Hahaha, Lilithia laughed, no problem. She would do this little favor for Nenya and get a nice house in return. It is good to have high elves in high places. Lilithia would have to go back for the key, but it was already time to head to Riverapids for the Holiday. New face, new life, she couldn’t remember. The year is coming to an end. Time to toast it away. Last holiday at Riverapids was awful, hopefully this one will be better.

She arrived at Riverapids rather early and spoke with Hadma, who had an emergency. The College needed wood to set the fireworks and she was swamped at the inn because people were enjoying the Holiday and Saadia is incompetent. She claims to be an experienced tavern wench, the official title for the job, but the girl can barely cook and carries on as if she’s had people do everything for her her whole life. If Lilithia helped out by chopping wood, she’d get a free room for the Holidays AND get paid for the wood. No problem. She can start chopping early the 31st and provide a steady source of wood throughout the day. Great, with a room obtained, now she could settle in and sell the rest of her loot from the bounties. This was done rather early still and now Lilithia was bored and restless, so she grabbed Barbas and they headed out of Riverapids.

They didn't go far when a cave attracted Lilithia's attention. When two bandits attacked, Lilithia knew it was time for another impromptu bandit raid. Let’s see what they have. The Jarl was probably going to tell her to clear them out anyway. She’ll beat them to it and then ask for a bounty. Brilliant idea. White Rapids Watch. Why they stationed a blind man at the entrance is beyond her. "Eh? Who's there? Rodulf, that you?" Yeah, her name is now Rodulf, sure, to get in, she'll call herself Rodulf. Because she so sounds like a man. Barbas could barely keep from laughing. "Boss was looking for you- said he'd be up at the summit. Better not keep him waiting." Great, thank you for telling Lilithia exactly where the head bandit was. Barbas was barely keeping himself together. Lilithia had to scold him, though she fighting a severe case of the giggles too. At the summit, where the pair finally cut loose. One always needs to release a bad case of the giggles.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292407768

Off to the Steward to collect her bounty. No bounty? What?! Confused, she talked to Hadma and was informed that this hideout wasn’t on the jobs list. Damn it. Well, she got to keep the loot and had their APPRECIATION. She had time to sell it off and disenchant a special pair of gauntlets that made two-handed weapons more powerful that she claimed from the head bandit. She holds her battle staff with two hands. Could be very useful. Perhaps she will make enough money from tomorrow to purchase a better soul gem. But she was finally tired and she needed to be up early. Giggling can be very tiring.

Drink of choice: Wine.

31st of Evening Star - New life, new start, whatever, Holiday

Up very, very, very early. No relaxation for Lilithia, she’s got work to do.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292407864

She does have a problem though, she forgot her holiday clothes at Ivarhammelstoodystead. Damn it. Fortunately, Armoral’s wife had a dress she could borrow. It is ugly and too short, but it is better than wearing blacksmith’s gear, especially since it would be very gross from all that wood chopping. *sigh* She wishes she had better clothes. She had lovely clothes at Summerset Isles. Nords dress terribly. Everything is so itchy and she has sensitive skin.

Lilithia made over 5000 septims chopping wood for the Fireworks! She will definitely volunteer her services again. But now it was time to don her very ugly dress and join the celebration. It was not nearly as cold tonight, but Lilithia didn’t see any food or drink brought out. Cheap Nords. The Nord in the pretty dark armor who fought the sabre cat with the plain Nord with red war paint were at the party. They also brought their leader, who cannot hold his liquor. He also smelled like a dog. The other Nord smelled like a dog too. Lilithia has Barbas, but she doesn't smell like a dog. No it's not dog, as Barbas sniffs, but he can't quite put his paw on it. It's definitely not dog smell though, of that he is certain. He would know.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292408263

THIS. GUY made googly eyes at her all night. He’s got a lot of magnetism and they were definitely flirting. She was about to go head to head in a drinking contest with him, but then Barbas starts pulling on her skirt and dragging her away! Oh please, Barbas! Lilithia can drink this man under the table...
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=292408293

Oh, so that's Sanguine, is it? Great, so the only man Lilithia finds attractive is THE Daedric Lord of Sin and Debauchery. Lilithia is not surprised. Barbas laughed and said Lilithia wasn’t ready to have the drinking contest yet. He’d let her know when she was.

Fireworks! Yay! But the display could be better. Lilithia will have to visit the College of Wintersgrasp and offer her input.

Lilithia’s impressed, the Nords are still celebrating. She did not receive a little white headband though. That is disappointing. She got a shiny coin for Saturalia, but no little white headband. Stupid Nords... :(

Bah! It was time to head back to Ivarhammelstoodystead anyway, as all the shops were closed and she was bored, but she was surprised that the khajiit caravan was open for business. The Caravan leader had soul gems in stock, so Lilithia picked up some. She’s too cheap though. She can’t see herself buying the better gems until her skill at enchanting is better.

The trip back to Ivarhammelstoodystead was without incident and Fat Arms was celebrating with the rest of the town. They also had little white head bands. That stinks, Lilithia wants one and feels left out. She talks to Fat Arms about getting one, but Fat Arms continues to be obessed with bears. Evidently some came while Lilithia was gone and ruined batches of lumber with their filfth. Perhaps if Fat Arms continues to be nice, Lilithia will help with her bear problem. Barbas just thinks that Fat Arms has a thing for bears. Haha, Barbas.

The rest of the day was spent organizing the loot she decided to keep. She had to repack Ysmir, store food items, and her smithing supplies for her staves. Turns out her skill has improved so much that she can now create simple enchanted wooden staves in one step at the forge. She can also improve some weapons. She may try to make another silver staff to see if she can improve it.

Seems they have work for her in Ivarhammelstoodystead. There are bandits at Trelor’s Stare that need dispatching. Lilithia and Barbas are great with bandits. But first, she has some unfinished business at the local Burrow. Dark Hearth Burrow. Barbas corrects her...

It's Barrow, Lilithia, a barrow, which is where Nords bury their dead.

Well, it's technically underground, so it is a burrow.

True, very true. It's a barrow that's a burrow. Hahaha. Better make that silver staff strong, my dear. In Skyrim, bunny rabbits aren't the only things that come out of burrows...

Drink of choice: Honningbrew mead.
