No Housecarl
and no partner so the visitors room is a mess and full of cobwebs, I kep expecting one of the giant spiders to pop up :(

Since losing my first housecarl it's been this way, is there any way to solve this or at least get a new housecarl?

This housecarl is intended for Lakeview Manor. Each house has it's own potential housecarl.

I have one in Solitude and in Markarth as well as the one in Whiterun. It was Lydia I lost. she was killed during some fighting and I forgot about rolling back to a previous save until days later but by then I didn't want to go through some difficult challenges again. :(

Housecarls cannot be replaced when they die. Furthermore it is probably you who killed Lydia, because of certain game aspects. The spiderwebs in Breezehome are probably there becaue you haven't installed all the upgrades for it, which is done in Dragonreach Castle by the housecarl of the jarl, not by Lydia.

I didn't kill Lydia unless you could say that I did it by not being with her at the time, she was seperated from me by several big rock and also I was facing outwards away from those rocks... No way could I have killed her unless I struck back behind me with my sword and through a large rock.

You kind of remember a battle like that!

I said probably. Most of the time followers that cannot be killed, can ONLY be killed by the player.

Sorry, it did sound like you were slinging the blame though, especially since she is suposed to be unkillabe.

As far as I know I have all I can have in the Markarth home but I will go and see if there is something I missed.

You do know that Lydia is not the housecarl of the home in Markath, right ? So you should have the option of obtaining the housecarl in Markath.
As for unkillable followers, that is not exactly true. They go into bleedout, during which time they are ignored by the enemy. But they might receive damage from area effect spells and such, or be killed by the player.

yes I do but I thought it might be a glitch caused by losing her.
I have just asked about further decorations and I have them all and no mention of a housecarl so I will try and find the person who should be there and see if that works.

Did you do all the favors for the people in Markath ? A housecarl is given by the jarl in a city upon doing 3 to 5 favors to the inhabitants of that city.

Ty Grathagia, I will look for more favours to do and see if that solves it.
