I am stuck in Third Person, how do I fix this?
I was messing about with commands and stuff now I can't go into First Person.

Have you tried loading to an earlier save? This is more to see if it's a specific playthrough problem.

Thanks Delta, that seemed to work, and thankfully I didn't save too long ago so I can just do all the things again!

Yeah save often unless you want your game to get Bethesda-ed.

Nope. Button pushing is futile - when you get stuck in 3rd person, you're stuck. I don't know what causes it exactly but it seemed to happen to me after asking a follower to do something like mining. For those of you that haven't experienced the bug - It's almost like an animation hasn't completed thus preventing you from interacting with anything else. You can't sit for example or do anything other than move yourself or the camera. Since I've stopped being so lazy it has very rarely happened. The last occurence was when I was mining whilst sneaking.

How about scrolling?

I've had this happen a few times. At least once, it was caused by getting interrupted after starting the mining animation.

If you can, try to navigate your character back to the ore vein and start mining again. You can also try finding a chair to sit down on, or anything else like that. Bascially, you need something that triggers an animation sequence that takes over the camera. You may also try using the console to place a chair at you, and then sit on it. Hopefully that should reset the camera.

If you're somewhere on the map that it doesn't matter about aesthetics, then place a bench where you're stanting with
player.placeatme 000C07F2
and sit in it. Triggering the standing animation after will cause your camera to go back to first person. I don't know how to remove the bench though.

If you are somewhere that aesthetics matter, such as your home, you'll probably have to reload a previous save to do that. Mining almost isn't worth it unless you quick save just before.

Always quicksave before mining ore, or chopping wood...
If the issue is still here, and no patch, or update has ever come along to fix it. Not by modders, nor Bethesda, then its safe to assume this glitch is very deeply hard coded and will always be a problem with the game.
The solution to the problem is as simple as making it routine to push F5 before mining.
Same for riding horses. I've gotten stuck on a horse before by the same glitch. Anything that forces 3rd person is unstable. Always quicksave before doing anything that forces the camera in any which direction.

I realize this thread is ancient, but it was one of the first results that popped up when I googled this issue.

ClickSentinel's solution works, I'm just adding that to get rid of the life-saving bench, after sitting in it, get out and go back into the console window. When in the window, use your mouse to select the bench. You'll know it was successful because an Item ID will pop up in the middle of the screen in quotations. This ID will be different than the item code used to place the object, so don't worry. Once it's selected, simply type
disable
into the console window. Voila!

Hope this helps whatever adventurer stumbles along this thread in the far flung future.
