How can I be a Bad Guy?

I want to be an evil character in Skyrim so what race should I be, who should I join, ect. I just want to be bad thats all.

On-topic, you could join the thieves/assasins guild. Race doesn't matter for anything but bonuses and what you look like. You could also just kill people, though that could have unintended consequences.

If you're asking about the war when you ask who you should join, they're pretty even. The Empire is oppressive and the Thalmore are d*cks (plus there was that time they tried to kill you). The Stormcloaks are racist and bigoted and Ulfric seems to only be in it for the power (to me, at least).

Most of my evil charaters are just deeply religouse. You could be the champion of Molag bag, Boelethia, or any other horrible daedra and do as they would do in any situation. I even had an anti-daedra extremist just so I wouldn't feel as bad, I ended up killing a bunch of good people for frankly no reason; Azura worshippers, Sindling, and even the Orc strongholds. Dark brotherhood is also a plus for any evil charater but as you have choices with consequences your charater ends up more like a battle-scarred veteran than a true evil guy.

Alignment with a Daedra is a good suggestion. If you want to be evil in a lore-friendly way, turn to soul trapping and Necromancy, not exactly loved pursuits in Skyrim. Finally, don't be concerned about the consequences of your actions, if you want something, take it, even if it racks up a bounty. Playing a raider is a fun way to be evil. Stay away from large cities and wreak havoc in the little un-celled villages and camps on horseback, striking non essentials down, grab what you can and get out. Sell your wares to a fence. It's not hard to create a decent first fence in the TG after completing a few quests that aren't all that hard.

Get a mod to make children killable. Also a mod to remove essential status.

Every once in awhile, just slaughter a nearby village.


Do the most terrible, sadistic things you can think of.

Like something I once read that stuck out to me as truly evil:

Kill an NPC who is a father to the most adorable little girl/boy you can find. Make sure to capture his soul. Then use his soul to craft a weapon, which you gift to the now orphaned girl/boy

Don't forget to cackle evilly at every opportunity.
