They do work together, but I personally decided that combination was a poor choise. I am using "Climates of Tamriel - Sounds" for ambient and "Immersive Sounds - Compendium" for rest. So far I have been satisfied with this combination.
IMO, if you plan to use bows in your game, then cut twangyness to minimum from Immersive Sounds. While other sounds are nice, bow is quite loud and sharp.
Try it out. Do a test character. Ue alternative start mods like "Live Anoterh Life" or "Skyrim Unbound to make testing easier for you. Select to sound combination that feels the best. It is absolutely impossible to do it for another player. :)

Immersive Sounds - Compendium has it's own installer program. Run it through Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer and it will launch automatically.
