Hired thugs | Anyone else kill npc's who put out a bounty on you?
At the beginning of the game, I stole Alvor, the blacksmith from Riverwood's ingots from outside while he was asleep in his house. I am now level 5 and killed a group of hired thugs, read the contract and it turns out Alvor sent them after me. Alvor was a cool dude, but unfortunately I had to assassinate him for such a stunt. -_-

Nimriel also did this to me on my other character. Put an arrow through her head as well. ;)

yeah, cos it's the victim's fault you stole from them lol.

Unfortunately that's how law and order works in Skyrim - you steal and then mercs are sent after you for recompense/beating. Still, if you're after the achievement for getting over 1000 gold in all nine holds you should be welll on the wway now.

Oh it's not his fault I stole from him, but with the dragonborn did, his precious little village is gonna get destroyed by dragons. :P Now that I got gold, he could of asked me to pay up for the stolen items ;)

They don't actually ask the thugs to kill you, they just suggest that they don't care too much if that happens. Generally speaking, if you're 'teaching someone a lesson' you don't kill them, I think it's just Beth didn't feel like bothering to make this one encounter *not* be a fight to the death...

That sounds about right - more ambition than actual coding.

Also fighting 4 thugs at once (left my follower at home for 5 minutes when they came -_-) with skyre on master and being an archer/destruction character with no melee wep/block at such a low level is prettyy damn hard lol. Couldn't let them have 1 power attack on me or 1 shot so I saved asap when I saw them.

I found Alvor dead in the street, dragon or vampire attack, I don't remember which, but I helped myself to his ingots, figured he didn't need them any more. He still sent thugs after me. He took out a contract on me from Savengarde. Moral of this story: Don't steal from Alvor.

Happens all the time, I've had several contracts on me by people that I've killed or were killed by others. I guess in Skyrim they can reach you from the grave.

I always follow his relative out of Helgen just so I can get free ingots. They come in handy in the early game.

Funny when you find out you're not the only one... For years now, I've always sought out a person who put out a contract on me and killed him/her. Moira the hagraven has sent thugs to kill me multiple times, which is a little odd. The exception to the rule for me is, if I kill Nazeem for example, I don't kill his wife for putting out the contract... but yeah, if I steal a mug, and 3 guys come to "teach me a lesson" they're goin' down.

Nice post. Love it.
