Finding Red Eagle's Sword is glitched...

Okay so one day I was just out, exploring Skyrim, nonchalantly doing a quest, and I came across Red Eagle Redoubt. So I did the entire dungeon and did the sword. Now, a little while later, I come across a book called the Legend of Red Eagle. I already have his sword and have already completed the dungeon, but it is now telling me to go to Red Eagle Redoubt and find his sword. There is nothing to complete and no sword to find. What do?????

i never pick that damn thing up, do you have the Unofficial patches installed ? i believe they fix that bug,if the sword is still in the cave were it fits into the pillar, sometimes picking it up and putting it back completes the quest,though i'd install the UOP first

Yes, I have the unofficial patches already. I've had them for a while. I actually didn't leave it in the pillar, I went back in and took it... Do I go in and put it back?

What is the name of the sword you have? This is a known bug fixed by version 1.0 of the Unofficial Patches.

Red Eagle's Bane, the one you get if you finish the Rebel's Cairn.

Truth be told, you'd be amazed how many bugs I encounter which are supposedly fixed by those patches.

I mean, sure, they can't fix issues which've already somehow been triggered before the patches were installed, but I've always started my characters with them in place.

That said, I've never had issues with this particular quest. Did you have the unofficial patch installed when you first completed it?

Yes, but not when I first created my character.

if you still have the first sword you can try and put it back into the pedastal, also if the sword is now stuck in your inventory you can do one of two things use the console to remove it or try placing it in a weapon rack...that's why i never read that book or pick up the sword, i had the same problem

K, I'll try messing around with it. And no, I have the second sword, the blue one called Red Eagle's Bane.
