BUG: Favorites menu not working...
I picked up this game recently (not the legendary version), but there's a bug here so that the favorites menu doesn't work (doesn't pop up at all). So I can't quickslot spells for my wizard...

I haven't installed any mods / unofficial patches or anything. Will the unofficial patches solve this? What unofficial patch should I install when I don't have the legendary version?

First things first. Have you favoured those spells? Menu [Q] does not appear, until there is something favoured.

If you did already have something favoured, then make sure that your master files are not damaged, by validating your files with a cleared appcache.

If you only have Skyrim, then pick up Unofficial Skyrim Patch. I do recommend getting DLCs as well, but it is best to buy the whole Legendary Edition instead. It is usually much cheaper than buying individual DLCs and content will be simply added to your game.

Be adviced that old individual patches are no longer getting any updates. Game is old and LE has been in sale so many times that it is considered as a standard. Still, having USKP there fixes so many problems from the game that it is worth using, even if it does no longer get any updates.

I tried to go to the quick spell menu and favorite spells by pressing "F", but nothing happens.

Okay then. [F] should favourite items and spells, [Q] should bring the menu up. If you do not have any mods, then it is indeed worth to check if your master files are damaged.

I can't see your country from private profile, but it is also worth to notice that this may be due to incompatible language settings between game and your system/keyboard. Try to change settings to English, if you have not already done so, and see if it fixes the problem, if validating files with cleared appcache folder did not solve this.

Ok, thanks for your help. I found out I could favourite with the P key instead of the F key for some reason... I'm in Norway, so maybe it' has something to do with keyboard compatibility, as you say.

Might be. I live in Finland, but I think your keyboard may have few extra keys in it. :)
