Barbas won't Spawn

I got to Falkreath and the guards asked me if I had seen a dog, I got the quest to talk to Lod and I did a few hours later, he gave me the fresh meat and I got the quest to find him but he has not spawned.
Using consoles to move him to me or me to him didn't work
Spawning a copy of him meant that I couldn't speak to him and therefore couldn't continue the quest.
Using consoles to set the stage of the quest to the one after didn't do anything, i simply got 25 gold and the map marker disappeared but I still had the miscellaneous quest in my journal and could not start the Daedra's Bestfriend Quest.
I tried reloading to before I came to Falkreath, he still wasn't there.
I have looked for him everywhere, even on the road up to Helgen and up to Haemar's Shame and he is nowhere to be seen.
I really don't know what to do, please help

Thanks but I don't really see that as an option because I'm playing through extremely immerively, every minute of my game days count. I have survival mods such as Frostfall and iNeed and I even have a journal mod to write down everything I've accomplished in a dau. I've gone too far to break my immersion so massively. Thanks anyway

Barbas usually appears on the otherside, outside of the town on the road to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary and then you travel back through Falkreath to go through Helgen and then to Haemar's Shame.

He is usually in the road waiting for you.

Are you sure you used the right refid for Barbas? It is 52535.

player.moveto 52535.

You might want to try re-enabling him before triggering the quest.

That doesn't really make any sense, you've already spawned a dupe of him that you couldn't speak too, if that doesn't ruin the immersion I'm not sure what else will :S

I disabled the duplicate, and theres a chance that I don't even have a Barbas so it wouldn't have been a duplicate

I waited for him exactly where the quest marker was and had a look on the roads to helgen and to hemar's shame...

Hmm, thank you. Well I'm pretty sure I don't have any quests in Rimerock Burrow but the mod 'Notice Board' gave me a miscellenous quest to retrieve a necklace from Haemar's shame. I have the necklace but I've not completed the quest by returning the necklace... I tried returning it and then going to look for Barbas again and that didn't work but perhaps I could try reloading and returning the necklace before speaking to Lod, don't think I tried that. Thanks, I'll give it a go

Nope, returning the necklace then going to Falkreath and starting the Quest from scratch did not work either :( thanks for trying

try going to Rimrock and see if you can get the axe, then finish tthe quest without Barbas

I think thats just what I've got to accept unfortunately :( I have googled a lot and it doesnt seem to be a very common problem but I've tried every way that other people said they fixed it and nothing has worked... Luckily, I should have a good PC and be starting all over again before I got to the completionist point in my current playthrough.

I suppose I could see whats going on there since I've not been yet but I can't finish the quest because it's not actually started yet! I've only got the miscellaneous quest to find Barbas for Lod so without that, I cant actually even start 'A Daedra's Best Friend' not even with console commands. Thank you for your suggestion

after u clearing this caves where u have quest there use console to restart quest, open console and type "ResetQuest DA03start" and start this quest again and this should work, i had same problem and this worked for me

ps. i know this topic is old but there is no solution about this in internet

ResetQuest DA03start fix worked for me on SSE. Thank the divines for this discission!
