TES5Edit - Hunterborn clean - Advice Needed
Apologies for yet another question

I'm trying to clean Hunterborn with TES5Edit (it has 9 ITM errors) but I need a little advice ... please.

I open TES5Edit and select Skyrim,Update and Hunterborn only then press OK.
It runs but after the background loader finishes it also lists Dawnguard.esm and Dragonborn.esm.
Do I just continue with the clean-up as usual or do I restart TES5Edit and also select DG and DB.
I ask because my only reference point for TES5edit is the gopher vid on cleaning the DLC's and that doesn't cover this. I've cleaned the master files by following his excellent tutorial. I know that I could watch more gopher vids but that may take me ages to find the info I need ... or someone might just tell me on here in a couple of mins.

It is not recommended to clean mods. Only clean your master files. A mod may have ITMs for a reason, such as ensuring that certain records have intended values. If you encounter ITMs in mods, check in the mods description and/or contact the mod author. That way the mod will get fixed for everyone.

In the case of Hunterborn, the author seems to have this to say: "The ITM's are required, don't remove them. They are worldspaces for the hidden quests and it is only in 3 or 4 locations in deliberately obscure caves. "

Thanks for the tip ..... and the reminder to go back and read the mod description before asking questions

To clean a file in Tes5edit you only need to select the file you wish to clean ... TEs5edit loads all master files that that file needs so yes it is correct that it loads those as well. When it loads watch the right side and see any error messages that may load as well.
Right click .. unselect all
then click on the one file you want to clean

When complete click rightclick on your file and select "apply filter for cleaning" .... let wait till it has done it's job
Then right click on your file and click on removes identical to master records. click ok.
Then when it has finished right click again and select undelete and disable references.

once that has completed click on the windows closing x at top right The saving screen should come up showing the file you have cleaned. Only Dawnguard needs to be cleaned twice.

ust watch gopher on his tes5edit so you take those steps carefully. It is important you do it correctly

Thanks for taking the time to write out the step by step guide ... those are the steps I've been following. The problem is that's the extent of my knowledge. Anything that deviates from that causes my brain to shut down.

Now that Trehek has told me not to clean any mods I suppose my work with TES5Edit is done. I've already cleaned the master files so I won't bother with the other errors flagged by Loot.

If a mod only has an ITM of few, you can often ignore them. It's still good to make a mental note on them, and check the mods out so you have an idea what's going on. Deleted records and navmeshes are worse. You should be very wary about those.

He is correct that we should read mod author instructions a lot more closely especially with removing / uninstalling mods. We often take more care as we set a mod up than when we remove it.

I went looking for this infomation on the mod description page but couldn't find it ... where exactly is it to be found so I can check for other mods in the future. If I'm missing something obvious than please forgive me.

Sometimes stuff like that is in a sticky in the Posts section. In this case, it was in a post and reply at the end of the first discussion page.
