Dragon Rising Quest Bug - SOLVED
Hello. I have seen this as an error on web searched but have not been able to find a solution. When I complete the Bleak Falls Barrow Quest (MQ103), either prior to speaking to the Jarl Balgruff or after being assigned the quest by Farrengar, the first part of Dragon Rising will not begin. Irileth does not appear and even when I have followed her back into Dragonreach after she assigns the guards to Riverwood, I have viewed her disappear. There is never a discussion of the Dragon at the Watchtower and no guard ever comes in to begin the conversation. I cannot get the quest to begin by either "waiting" or "forcing the completion via the console commands." I have also started the game fresh multiple times (no Alternate Life mod) and have come across this error the last three times. Yes, I am running a large number of MODS (166), and utilizing a STEP set-up, but other than this issue, I rarely get a CTD and I have not had any other quests not work. I have logged a lot of hours into Skyrim and am experienced in Modding, but does not mean I did not miss something obvious. I do not run any mods that are not current and supported by their authors. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Try to disabling all mod

Done. Strangely enough, the same thing happens, with just different dialogue in the pure vanilla game. However, when I add the Unofficial Legendary Edition Patch, the "Dragon Rising" Quest begins as it should. Just to see if it was something with the Patch, I also tried it with the old "Unofficial" patches and the "Dragon Rising" Quest also worked. Therefore, I guess it is something in the STEP mods or any of the additional ones I added. My guess would be, at least, that it is likely not a texture mod and more likely one that has script. Does that sound right?

Thanks, but I don't believe so. As I wrote, both the USLEEP patch and the older "Unofficial Patches" corrected the error. There was no problem with either use. I am working through my STEP order one at a time to see if I can isolate it.

OK, I found it. In STEP, there is actually a MOD that delays this part of the quest. The MOD is called "Not So Fast - Main Quest." When I updated STEP to current, I completely forgot about installing this MOD. Feeling very foolish, but at least now the solution is out there, at least from a perspective of this MOD. And now, my STEP is up to date. Thanks to everyone who read this.

OP, you should put SOLVED in the header of your post so others will know of the solution in the event they have the same problem.
