Why is the Cathay the only Khajiit breed in Skyrim?
Since different breeds of Khajiit are born depending on the Masser and Secunda moons, rather then on their parents, why don't all Khajiit breeds inhabit Skyrim rather then just the Cathay?

Bethesda couldn't even be bothered to have decent pathfinding in Skyrim. You think they'd spend time on different variations of the same race?

Bethesda Devs : So should we include other options for Khajiit in their customisation?
Todd : How much will it cost?
BD : Not much, it's just art assets on established skeletons
Todd : That's too much, mods will fix it.
BD : But the artists have nothing to do in the last few months
Todd : Fire them then.

Now that I think of it, probably not, would most likely just take extra time to implement 20 ( 17? ) different sub species. Oh well, you can always imagine. Maybe i'll go try out that Pahmar follower mod once I get legendary edition.

For one, most Khajiit presence in Skyrim are trade caravans. Cathay is also apparently the most common breed. Mix those two factors together and you don't get a whole lot of representation.

But if you want the real reason, it's because 95% of Skyrim's audience don't know or care, and Bethesda loves cutting "unnecessary" corners whenever it can.

And taken all of the above into acount, there is still one of the other types of Khajiit in the game. I do not remember what kind it was, but I once encounterd a feral Khajiit, that I had thought to just be a regulre tiger at the moment. It was on a Companion mission i think. I wish I had a screenshot of it now.

Because no one cares about the Khajit.

Been playing TES since Morrowind, I had never played a Khajiit until Skyrim. I decieded to give him a cat name, Mittens, all the while planning to make him an Assassin/Illusionist.

Do you want the Khajiit that resemble elves, or the ones that walk on four legs and are used as horses?

In all honesty, Skyrim-era Khajiit is exactly what I think of when people say "cat-people" even before I saw gameplay footage.
