The peace of the Grave can be described as ultimate I supposed.
And going backwards is not as great a path as you make out, Lorkhan made them Mundus to get them to EVOLVE, to become more than what they were. Which if they ascended like Talos and Arkay, they would be. Instead they want to wimp out and go backwards, because they are opposed to all change, even personal growth.
Not going to pretend Humans are great in TES universe, but none of the races are that great, they are all racist warmongers, but the Thalmor are the worst of the lot (and given that includes the Sload, that's some doing)
Ulfric however does not care about Lorkhan, his issue is the Ban of Talos, well the treaty as a whole. Talos IS a god, his blood was used in Oblivon as aedric blood and his Blessing works, so he is an Aedra.
Do you know WHY the nords (actually Atmorans) attacked the Elves? Because they atacked first, detailed in the Night of Tears, the Snow Elves grew fearful of the Atmotans who were growing faster than the elves, Ysgramor survived, went back to Atmora, gathered his men and returned to Skyrim in retaliation, it had nothing to do with superiority.
The Ayleids enslaved all humans, and it was way more than Nordic people, if you want to blame anyone, it would Alessia and Pelinal.
The elves don't want peace, they want to exterminate everyone who isn't with them.
From the The Infernal City novel.
"but their goal is clear--the pacification and purification of all of Tamriel--to bring about a new Merethic Era"
I agree with the Nordic Macho detail, that's true, Nords value masculinity and warriors, they are distrustful of magic and don't compromise. Nords like to fight, drink, and ♥♥♥♥.
One of their main goals is to die with honor and enter Sovengard.
