(It turns out that it is just a graphical glitch)
Not that I have found. And obviously any bug it causes would be preferable to the many bugs of the vanilla game.
The unofficial patch if anything like the Oblivion counterpart, probably fixes several exploitable glitches that likely unbalance the game in some way.
Not having those glitches might be considered a downside to those who exploit glitches.
