How do I go about removing an ENB?
I recently installed performance and realistic ENB but I'm just not happy with performance so I want to know how to get rid of it.

Delete d3d9.dll from your Skyrim folder.

Reverse the steps you installed it in.

If you used nexusmods you can uninstall the preset from the NMM.

Like chibi said, I think d3d9.dll is the only file that was required for the actuall ENB. (The preset will remain until you delete it's files if you only delete d3d9.dll)

delete d3d9.dll from root skyrim folder (NOT system folder or anywhere else!) and delete enbhost.exe and injector.exe (if you installed the injector version)

Okay thanks guys.

Also, you can skip removing the d3d9.dll if you are wanting to try a different ENB preset.

There are some out there that don't impact performance much, but use small changes to make a big difference.

Any examples of those?

I'm sure somebody can chime in with an example. I use Seasons of Skyrim, which didn't hurt me too bad. I'm running 32GB of ram with an R9 290x though, so not much slows me down right now. :D

I can tell you that I have seen them on NexusMods, though. They claim little-to-no performance loss, and the screenshots looked pretty good. I couldn't tell you the names of any off the top of my head.

Best advice is to just skim through the ENB listings on Nexus. You might also check their forums out. There are probably a few people that have asked through there.

This isn't the one that I had in mind, but it is in the top downloaded from Nexus. Looks pretty legit.

It says to me that d3d9.dll is used in another program when I attempt to delete it, even tough it's not used in anything, I checked the task manager, any solutions guys? Please, my game is messed up

What did you do to mess it up? Whatever it was, undo the last thing that you did.

Try restarting your computer and then try to delete d3d9.dll again.

Modding is something that you do slowly - installing a few at a time; rather than just plugging everything all in at once. Nexusmodmanager is a lifesaver when it comes to tracking what you've got on, and quickly uninstalling/reinstalling mods.

If all else fails, then verify your game cache and reapply mods.
