On the left you can see the different slides you can change using W and S to switch between them (up or down) and A and D to adjust the slider (left and right).
After you are done with everything you have to press R (as it says in the bottom left corner), name your character and confirm.
But I don't think you should play the game if you can't even figure out character creation.
Which takes me off topic to the OPs installation ... have you added any mods? and if so make sure RaceMenu is one of them ... adds a bunch of sliders to the creation page, and starts you with all of them displayed on the left. Might help, will definitely give you more choices.
Have you gotten past the menu issue yet?
Are you running mods? If you are can you list them?
If you have no character yet. Go to documents/my games/skyrim/saves and pull out the save files and try a new game again. It has to be something silly to cause this problem. GL

If you are experiencing an issue with your mouse not being able to select menu options such as Yes, No, or Accept, you will want to try the following:
Uncheck the 360 Controller Option.
Go to Settings, then Gameplay.
Uncheck the 360 Controller Option.
Reset your Controls to Default.
Set your keybindings to default by hitting Escape while in game and click on Controls.
Hit [T] for default.
Click or hit the keybinding to Accept.
Make a Skyrim Interface.bsa Correction.
Locate your interface.bsa file. If the game was installed by Steam, it should be in the default location of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data.
Delete this file.
Verify your Game in Steam again.
Verify your Game in Steam.
Running this utility will re-install/recreate the file we deleted above.
Load Steam.
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click Verify integrity of game files...
Image of Verify integrity of game files button
Steam will verify the game's files. This process may take several minutes.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Please Note: One or more files may fail to verify; in most cases this is normal. These are local configuration files and should not be altered in this process.
You can also use your [Y], [N], [Enter], or [Tab] keys to confirm or cancel if the mouse is not working properly.
