Stuck at character creation
Sup guys, i just started the game and i cant figure out the character creation system. All it lets me do is scroll down the races menu and thats it. It wont let me change the gender, nor go on to the other aspects ( like body, hair, etc) and every time i click it asks me if im done and want to name my character :/ a little help?

There is a bar on the top of the screen, you can change to race, face... by clicking on the text.

On the left you can see the different slides you can change using W and S to switch between them (up or down) and A and D to adjust the slider (left and right).

After you are done with everything you have to press R (as it says in the bottom left corner), name your character and confirm.

But I don't think you should play the game if you can't even figure out character creation.

Or dont be a jerk. Not going to learnif you just give up. And, infact, I had the same issue when I first played Morrowind years ago. I didnt know how to change my appearance or gender, so I just picked the male wood elf...and I freaked out when I saw the Silt Strider. Now its literally my favorite game ever and TES is my favorite series. Its a silly mistake, but people are allowed to make them from time to time.

Since Oblivion, character creation's been pretty hard, bros. So many terms for parts of the nose...I just wanna be pretty! ;_;

In Skyrim you can change each part separately, while in Oblivion if you moved one slider the others moved as well, which was annoying and made the character creation fairly diffocult

In Oblivion if you managed, without a head replacer and ENB and fancy mods, to make a character that didn't look like a bloated, irradiated potato, a feral ghoul lurking in the wrong franchise, or a stubbly-chinned woman you should be considered an artist of magnificent skill, precision, and patience.

Which takes me off topic to the OPs installation ... have you added any mods? and if so make sure RaceMenu is one of them ... adds a bunch of sliders to the creation page, and starts you with all of them displayed on the left. Might help, will definitely give you more choices.

Have you gotten past the menu issue yet?

Or perhaps you should re read my post? i clearly said the game is NOT letting me do any of those things and i also said everytime i click something it just promps me to finish the character creation. Honestly if you are not even going to read dont comment.

Nope, no mods. I literally just downloaded the game and was planning on playing vanilla for a while before going crazy on the mods. I honestly dont know whats wrong since it wont let me do ANYTHING but slide down the races, and everytime i click the screen it just promps me to finish character creation :/

Are you running Skyrim as admin? If not make it happen.
Are you running mods? If you are can you list them?
If you have no character yet. Go to documents/my games/skyrim/saves and pull out the save files and try a new game again. It has to be something silly to cause this problem. GL

Would also recomment SkyUI. It's pretty much essential and makes pawing through the menus so much easier. Most menus in skyrim are done best with the keyboard - mouse just gets in the way. More than likely you need to select with 'E' or 'R' to move on. It's been a long time since I played without SkyUI, so can't remember perfectly, and can't try myself without switching a whole bunch of mods.

I've been having the same issue sorta; where I can't really click (or allow) me to go to appearance, only Race so far, it worked once or twice while playing S-SE, but the first time playing it, it went Smoothly, as for my ps4 version, Perfected.

I am having a similar problem. Just installed the anniversary edition. I am able to scroll down the list of races, and finish character creation, but I am unable to change any other aspect of my character.

I had the same issue with a new computer when I tried to start a new game for the first time on it: got to character creation and couldn't click. Had to alt-tab out to kill the session, etc. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from Steam, playing with the resolution, etc., but none of it worked. Here's what did work for me that I found on the Bethesda site:

If you are experiencing an issue with your mouse not being able to select menu options such as Yes, No, or Accept, you will want to try the following:
Uncheck the 360 Controller Option.
Go to Settings, then Gameplay.
Uncheck the 360 Controller Option.
Reset your Controls to Default.
Set your keybindings to default by hitting Escape while in game and click on Controls.
Hit [T] for default.
Click or hit the keybinding to Accept.
Make a Skyrim Interface.bsa Correction.
Locate your interface.bsa file. If the game was installed by Steam, it should be in the default location of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data.
Delete this file.
Verify your Game in Steam again.
Verify your Game in Steam.
Running this utility will re-install/recreate the file we deleted above.
Load Steam.
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click Verify integrity of game files...
Image of Verify integrity of game files button
Steam will verify the game's files. This process may take several minutes.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Please Note: One or more files may fail to verify; in most cases this is normal. These are local configuration files and should not be altered in this process.

You can also use your [Y], [N], [Enter], or [Tab] keys to confirm or cancel if the mouse is not working properly.
