Pickpocket - useful or not?
What do you think about Pickpocketing, as a skill itself and as a perk tree?

I like using it right in front of people while they are looking at me, and while I am hidden at the same time, It's funny to take all of their valuables while they are watching

I don't really use it.... ever. That is unless a quest calls for it.

For me pickpocketing is more useful for putting stuff IN ppl's pockets.

I found it useless as a skill, until I started to use these mods. Now I actually have some use to this skill and running away after getting caught is an option.

Watching a guy do the Dark Brotherhood questline made me think: There's that perk in the Pickpocket skill tree that lets you poison your enemies by putting the poison in their pockets. Man, that would be useful when trying to kill Gaius Maro and some other people. Sure, you can just smack them a couple times with a sword, but it's much more interesting and unique. Besides, stealing weapons off of your opponents can be a great way to deal with warriors and to compensate for your low damage output. Sure you can just sneak and keep shooting arrows, but it's boring and not original

Pickpocket is very useful for the extra pockets perk alone.

The Misdirection perk can be useful too. It lets you pickpocket equipped weapons, which allows you to pickpocket a weapon like Blade of Woe from Astrid.

I use this mod for pickpocketing. It just increases the cap of pickpocketing, which is normally capped at 90%.

Yeah, despite playing this game for 2 years, I never tried a legit Thief character. I did Sneak, Light Armor, Alchemy, Speech, Lockpicking, but I never bothered with Pickpocket. I want to make a pure Thief, with pickpocketing and sneaking and bribery and stealing and poisons and stuff. It sounds cool.

That's a thing?

Pickpocketing is an great way to get some enchanted jewelry in the beginning of the game, while trying to unlock the Extra Pockets perk.

It can also be a decent way to help level up Enchanting early on, by disenchanting the pickpocketed items.

Every time you enter a city for the first time, all NPC's spawn with random jewelry. Some of those items can be enchanted. If you are lucky there can be several people with Enchanted jewelry and although they are harder to pickpocket, their value gives more XP.

Yup. Check out the Pickpocket skill tree. There are tons of useful things there, but the skill itself isn't very useful: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Pickpocket
