E Key Not Working. AT ALL
Yesterday, I was happily playing Skyrim. Today, I can't do anything, because my E Key is not working.

It's not my keyboard. I had ordered a new keyboard (my old one was...just old), so I had a new one on hand. It's a Brand New Gaming Keyboard and Mouse. It works great. TYPES the letter E in the game, out of the game, (as you can see here). It's just that when I go up to people to talk to them I can't. I can't talk to anyone. I can't sell anything. I can't loot chests. THE E KEY DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, and it happened suddenly and for no reason.

All of my other keys work just fine.

I am beyond annoyed about this. Tomorrow is my birthday and I really, REALLY wanted to spend the day playing Skyrim.

Can ANYONE help me...anyone at all????? PLEASE, I'm begging you! And please explain it like you're explaining it to a 5 year old. I can do some computer things, but I just started gaming, and I have a FEW mods with Nexus (like JK's Whiterun, the updates, but that is about it)....Skyrim is really all that I play(ed).

Oh, I tried to switch keys - I switched the E to D - and it still didn't work. I don't know what to do, and I have found NO answers anywhere. I'm about to lose my mind. Please help me not lose my mind.
Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

Read read so

- New keyboard and buttons are fine.
- Only the "Use" function in Skyrim doesn't work
* Tried because you changed the keybindings

This one I'm not too familiar with but back to basics and try verifying your files. To do this, head to your Library, right-click Skyrim and click Properties. Under the Local Files tab, click Verify integrity of cache.

One file will be missing, this is normal. What this does is that it checks if there are any corrupted or well, missing files.

If changing the keybind doesn't work, my only guess is that a mod is breaking it.

What mods are you running? Did you use LOOT?
klingongal Feb 15, 2016 @ 1:16pm
I have LOOT but I have no clue how to use it (I have aspergers and it's really difficult for me to learn some things unless they are explained detail by detail which LOOT doesn't do).
I asked some people awhile back what order my mods should be in and they advised me so that's what I used.
I just did the "Verify Integrity of Cache" and yes, it said one file was missing and it would be reacquired.
The mods I have from Nexus (which is where I have them) are:

Ok, well, now what shall I do - I have LOOT, and it doesn't detect Skyrim at all. I've deleted and reinstalled it (in case it was in the incorrect folder). It brought up the initial screen, where it says that I've never used it before, but it refuses to detect Skyrim. Now what? I can't use LOOT if it won't detect the game, correct?

Start up Skyrim using the default launcher.
klingongal Feb 15, 2016 @ 2:43pm
What do you mean - I usually come to steam - go to Library - start the game. Should I go into the C drive and start it directly from somewhere in there?
Kaiser Feb 15, 2016 @ 2:44pm
Anywhere as long as it's the default launcher.
klingongal Feb 15, 2016 @ 2:56pm
It doesn't work.

I started from Steam - Library - Skyrim.

I started from This PC - Windows (C:) - Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Skyrim and clicked on the icon.

Neither method worked. The E key is still not responding.

Does it say "SkyrimLauncher.exe"?
klingongal Feb 15, 2016 @ 2:57pm
No
I'll try that one
klingongal Feb 15, 2016 @ 2:59pm
That one didn't work, either.
Kaiser Feb 15, 2016 @ 3:23pm
Try this.

I thought that would work...but....no....I think I'm doomed

What should I do? Uninstall everything and just start all over again? I still have my game saves, at least...but I know that I've played Falskaar on TWO of the profiles I have - I just don't understand why all of a sudden the E key would stop working. Same mods. Nothing new.

The only thing I can think of that changed is that on my computer I had to switch profiles. I had to create a new profile, transfer the old programs, and delete the old profile.

At any rate...The E Key still is not working.
