How do you avoid enemy kill animations?

I have this gang of 3 guys in front of me as I exit an area from a quest -2 hammer-weilders and a spellcaster.
They give a line about "interfering with imperial business by being in the area and I have to pay a fine for it"... I call BS on it and they attack.

That's not the problem.
Neither is their attacks, I can weather their hits -I use heavy armor and a shield so they do 10-20% damage when I don't block.
The problem is that after about 2 attacks they get a kill animation every time and drop 80+% of my hp.

How do I avoid this?

Has an option in the mcm menu to disable kill moves on player.

Can't avoid those once they've actually done it. You have to prevent it from happening. Use your shouts and/or see if you have any potions or items that can buff you.

managed to get around it by using magic instead of melee -summoned an atronach (which they quickly killed...takes me a while to kill them) and used ice attacks to slow them down to avoid them getting close enough to attack while setting glyphs for them to run across.

Took a while and it was the wussy way of dealing with them...but it worked.

At times like these when the game is being BS I just kill them with the console commands. Seems reasonable.
