Daggers are good because with a high level of smithing you can get them to the same damage of a mace + its speed.
Perfect for the sneaky-stabby bastard playstyle.
For example, More Hits with Enchanted damage outweighs the more trivial Weapon Damage.
So try this use of 2-Enchantments on each of 2-Daggers:
Dagger #1
- Absorb 20 Health
+ Paralyze for 5 seconds. (the Boss stops attacking you)
Dagger #2
- Absorb 25 Health
+ 31 Fire Damage
Overall though, if you prefer swords, just go with swords. There's not a lot of point to min/maxing Skyrim considering you can pretty much level indefinitely and if you really want to go with the "max" part of min/maxing the restoration loop has been known for ages. There's not a lot of need to care if this 7 damage dagger ends up with a higher dps than this 10 damage sword, they both make things perdy darn dead real quick, and largely come with the same combat concerns like the inability to stab flying dragons without patience, a shout, or switching weapons.
Messaging on 8+ year old post that became obsolete.
I have finished and stop playing Skyrim years ago, lol.
