Mourning Never Comes bug?

So i'm trying to do the quest Mourning never comes were you have to talk to Muiri in Markarth. This is how the quest works everywere i have looked online, but not for me. The quest wants me to go to Windhelm and go into Hjerim, the house you can buy. I have not bought this house so i can't open the door and i'm pretty sure shes not in there anyway.

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? i love this questline and i would love if there was a way to fix it.

Have you tried going to Markarth and seeing if she was there?

You shouldn't need to go to Windhelm until after speaking to Muiri.

So I'm guessing you've done that and are now hunting Nilsine, who should often hang out near Hjerim but shouldn't be going into it.

However, killing Nilsine is optional, and frankly it's a ♥♥♥♥ move (plus it'll break Blood on the Ice, if you haven't started that quest yet). All you really need to do is kill Alain, who fully deserves what's coming to him.

Still, if you really want to take her out, she can be retrieved like so:
